Sam opens the door. Alexis is at her desk, staring into space.
SAM
Mom?
Alexis looks up. She picks up her phone to check the time.
ALEXIS
Oh my god, I didn't realize how late it was.
She starts shuffling the papers on her desk.
SAM
It's ok. I'm just grateful you're letting me use your office for an interview.
Alexis walks around her desk to get to her coat.
ALEXIS
Any time sweetheart.
Sam notices that Alexis is frazzled.
SAM
What's wrong?
ALEXIS
Nothing.
SAM
I know you. It's not nothing. Is this about your review panel at the end of the week?
Alexis hesitates to answer.

Sam pulls Alexis by the arm and they sit on the couch.
SAM
I know you're nervous but you got this. I can come to support you, if you want. I'll talk to Kristina and Molly and we'll-
ALEXIS
No! No, I don't want any of you kids there.
SAM
Ok. Whatever makes you comfortable.
Alexis nods but Sam still read into her agitation.
SAM
Then it's something else.
ALEXIS
I think I made a mistake.
SAM
What kind of mistake?
ALEXIS
Accepting Valentin's dinner invitation.
SAM
Danny mentioned to me the other day he invited you to dinner. What happened?
ALEXIS
I told him that I was in the process of getting my license back. Apparently, he already knew.
SAM
How?
Alexis gets up from the couch and starts pacing.
ALEXIS
He has his ways, so I was told.
SAM
So what's the problem?
ALEXIS
