Danny is walking through the hallway. He sees Jake at his locker, throwing a book in frustration. Danny walks over.
DANNY
Wassup!
Jake ignores him.
JAKE
Nothing.
Jake drops his sketch book and Danny picks up a paper that slips out. It's a math quiz with a big red D on it.

Jake snatches it out of his hand.
DANNY
It's not that bad.
JAKE
It's a D.
DANNY
Calculus is hard.
JAKE
What do you know about it?
Danny looks at him.
DANNY
I'm taking AP Cal.
JAKE
Since when?
DANNY
The beginning of the year. Dude, I told you already.
Jake stares at him.
JAKE
Forgot.
DANNY
If you need help let me know.
Jake raises his eyebrows and continues to pack his bag. Danny sighs.

Jake closes his locker and starts to walk away. Danny jogs to catch up.
DANNY
You going to the pep rally after school?
JAKE
I don't know.
DANNY
You should come! A bunch of us are going to-
JAKE
I gotta study.
DANNY
Ok...
Jake walks off leaving Danny standing in the middle of the hall. Danny turns and sees Tanya putting up a flyer on a bulletin board. He walks up to her and flashes a smile.
DANNY
Tanya, right? Jake's friend?
Tanya looks at Danny unimpressed.
TANYA
We met already.
DANNY
The pool, right?
