Chapter Nine: Luna Lovegood

Percy and Jason both had Death Eater tattoos!

Harry grabbed Ginny's wrist and we followed him outside.

"Bloody hell!" Ron spluttered. "They're- they're- they're Death Eaters!"

"Maybe not," I said, attracting surprised glances from everyone. "Maybe those tattoos are normal in America. Maybe we saw them wrong. They haven't attacked us yet."

Harry pointed out, "But they still could, and I'm sure I saw a snake."

"Me too," Hermione agreed. "Sorry, Luna."

"It's fine." My mind drifted as they talked about possibilities of getting the truth. I'm sure Stunning and Veritaserum were included in the conversation.

Lines of a song my mother used to sing popped into my head, and I sang them quietly. "Wisdom's daughter walks alone, the Mark of Athena burns through Rome."

Everyone looked at me like I was insane, but the rest of the song kept flowing. "With sea's bane, owlet grows, to turn the tide, the river of dust flows. Battles with fire, battles with gold, battles with dragons and skies untold. Fights with charm and bravery at her side, the son of death shall be mother's guide. Last love fights deepest battle night by night, bravest kiss brings new bright."

"Wow, Luna." Ron looked deeply unsettled. "How to you know that last line?"

Harry nodded. "It's familiar. Maybe Trelawny muttered it at some point."

"That's where I heard it," Ron agreed. "Luna's bloody brilliant!"

Hermione broke in with the more brilliant idea. "Let's take it inside. Maybe the Americans heard it too."
