All of the exchange students instantly went shifty. Hazel dropped the sword, Jason bit his lip, and Annabeth played with an earring.

"What in the world was that?" Hermione burst out. At the same moment, Ron whimpered and passed out cold. There was a profusely bleeding gash that ran from the bottom of his eyes to his chin. He was white from blood loss.

Hermione knelt to heal him, and Ginny yelled, "What is the matter with you all? Your stupid stunt could have killed my brother!"

She ranted for some time, until Luna took her pause for breath to say, "It's obvious, isn't it? They're demigods."

"Luna," Ginny said sharply. "This isn't the time for your crazy theories."

Percy scuffed his foot on the tiled floor. "No, she's right. We are."

I looked up. "Are you serious?"

"No!" Ginny snarled. I'd never seen her so angry. "They're going along with it to not hurt Luna's feelings! Tell us the truth!"

"We really are," Hazel said quietly. "We're telling the truth. We're demigods."

"Except for Calypso," Leo broke in. "She's a goddess."

"A- a goddess." I sat down on the floor.

"Don't tell me you believe this too!"

"Ginny," Hermione said. "They could be telling the truth. I checked out a book from the library about mythology. They fit the profiles of demigods. Special powers, all missing a parent, being able to see things that we can't. It makes sense."

"If you need proof-" Percy swung his arms and a wave splashed around him. When it disappeared, he was perfectly dry.

"Easily explainable," Ginny scoffed. "He could have just controlled the water to go around him and-"

"But how could he have controlled the water, Ginny?" Annabeth queried. "He doesn't have his wand with him. You're a smart person, Ginny. You've been living with magical things your whole life. Can't you believe that there might really be demigods?"

Ginny looked like she was going to shake her head, but then Harry said, "I believe them."

"Me too," I volunteered.

"Me too, mate." Ron sat up and grinned. "I suspected it all along."

Hermione and Luna nodded their assent, until, at last, Ginny admitted, "All right, I believe you."

"Good, because we have something important to tell you." Piper sheathed her knife. "We'd better go; teachers might arrive in a few minutes."

After that, we all scrambled to get upstairs to Gryffindor Tower, that is, until Luna pointed out that, as a Ravenclaw, she would not be allowed in Gryffindor Tower. At that point, we decided to sit and talk in the kitchen, and make the house-elves swear to secrecy.

Once we had all gathered about table on various stools and benches, we were silent until Calypso said, "You have a demigod in your school."

Everyone turned to look at her and she added, "Well, besides this bunch."

"How do you know?" Leo asked in astonishment.

"Chiron placed three satyrs here. Grover Underwood and Gleeson Hedge have been with a Rubeus Hagrid in the woods and Henry Saps is posing as a student."

"Grover?" Percy cried delightedly. "Grover's here? I haven't seen him in ages! He said he was trying to find a demigod in Washington State."

I exchanged a look with Luna, who mouthed No idea.

"She's very powerful, but her parent is unknown. All Henry knows is that she's a Slytherin."

Hermione sat up very quickly and said, "Do you have any way of getting the, er, satyrs down here? I have a theory I need to test."

"Sure," Percy said easily. "I have an empathy link with Grover and he'll alert Coach, but someone is going to have to that Henry dude."

"He's a first year Hufflepuff with blonde hair. You'll probably find crutches next to his bed," Calypso volunteered.

"I'll find him," I offered. "And maybe I'll get some blankets; it's freezing down here."

"No problem." Leo set his head on fire. I yelped and stumbled back.

"I have seen some strange stuff before but that's just creepy. Are you sure you're alright?"

"Perfectly fine."

"Right then, I suppose we won't be needing blankets. Anyone know where the Hufflepuff rooms are and what the password is?"

"I do," Hermione said. "There's a stack of barrels on the right side of the kitchen corridor. You have to tap the second barrel from the bottom; middle of the second row to the rhythm of 'Helga Hufflepuff' or else you'll be doused in vinegar."

"Good to know." I ambled off and located the correct barrel. The first time I tried the tapping, I narrowly avoided a vinegarfall (you know, instead of a waterfall?). The second time, though, I got in. I had to crawl through a tunnel, but eventually, I found the first year dormitory. I roused the blonde satyr and got him to come with me to the kitchen.

"Only if I can have a tin can," he relented.

When we arrived back at the kitchen, Hermione was nodding smugly.

A burly, middle-aged man and a red-head who looked somewhat like Ron were standing over Leo, warming their hands.

"I was right," Hermione said. "I know who our demigod is."
