Cassandra Marie Sloan Shepherd or Cassie, she the younger half sister of Derek Shepherd and Mark Sloan. She's a third year resident at Seattle Grace, following in her older brothers footsteps to becoming a surgeon.

" You should tell Hunt that you were instrumental in getting the chief's trial approved for face one human testing. Cassandra says as she gets ready for work.
" I'm not doing that." Jackson says, grabbing his shirt.
" Okay, I know you don't like to brag about yourself. But you don't even have to brag, Your diabetes trial does that on its own. It's gonna win every award, Seriously." Cassandra tells him. " Just make sure he knows..."
" Yeah yeah, What about you? When is your interview?" Jackson asks.
" I'm not having one." Cassandra says, looking away as she grabs her bag.
" What?" Jackson says looking confused at her.
" I don't want to be chief resident." Cassandra explains. " Plus you and Meredith with your trials and then Alex and his African kids. Plus I'm like the only one who hasn't chosen a specialty yet. I'm still choosing between four specialties"
" Do what makes you happy." Jackson says before kissing her gently.
Derek and Meredith are with Zola when Arizona and Cassandra walk into the room.
" Well hello there, Zola." Cassandra says, smiling at the little girl Meredith is holding.
" Well, She looks good. Her weight is up and the previous incision has healed. The labs are within normal limits and she's super-duper cute. Aren't you?" Arizona says, looking at Zola.
" So, It's an uncomplicated hernia, so you don't have to use any artificial closures, right?" Derek asks, concerned about the surgery.
" No, It should be simple." Arizona starts. " I'll do a short incision in her suprapubic crease to do a traditional exposure and then I'll..." Arizona tries to explain but gets a bit distracted by a crying Zola.
" Let's try this." Cassandra says given Zola a pacifier making her stop crying. " There you go baby girl."
" All right. I'll call you when we're ready to take her up to surgery." Arizona informs Meredith and Derek before she leaves the room.
" Don't you have your meeting with Hunt now, Mer?" Cassandra asks.
" Right, I gotta go. Bye Zola." Meredith says handing the baby to Derek before hurrying away out of the room.
" Zola, This is Cassie. Your aunt, hopefully." Derek says handing her over to Cassandra. " Me and Meredith are in the works of adopting her."
" That's amazing." Cassandra says, smiling at Zola. " How's everything with the trial going so far?"
