The door into Elwin's office was a barrier. Keefe could only hear what was going on, he couldn't see it. That was a problem.

He wanted to see it. He needed to see it.

The only thing important in his life was Foster's health, happiness, and sanity. Unfortunately, this event seemed to deprive her of all of these.

She didn't deserve it. For all the bravery and courage, selflessness and thoughtfulness, and all she had endured, she didn't deserve what was happening with her.

She didn't deserve to live in fear and pain.

"Hey......."

Keefe tore his gaze away at the sound of the crisp, familiar accent, and turned to face Fitz.

There was an awkward pause as they looked at each other.

Keefe felt emotions of anger, fear, and sadness radiating off of the Fitzter.

It was a simple mix that Keefe knew by heart. But, Keefe didn't pity Fitzy that much at the moment. Their last conversation seemed to ring in the air.

Fitz cleared his throat.

"I- I know that you don't forgive me- and I'm not expecting you too. But I truly am sorry. I didn't mean what I said, and I wish I could take it back. But.... I want to be friends again. Like we used to be."

Fitz flashed him a small smile.

Keefe let out a sigh. He did forgive him. Even though he didn't want to admit it, he missed his best friend. Ever since she arrived, Foster had just................ complicated things.

But that was so not her fault. It wasn't like she could help two best friends falling for her.

Keefe shook that dangerous thought out of his head before Fitz could take a grab at it.

But Fitz must of guessed because he said softly, "Sophie means a lot to you. What is it to you?"

Keefe's head swam with all sorts of answers.

Her bravery and fear.

Her selflessness and jealousy.

Her beauty and her flaws.

Her kindness and snarkiness.

Her perfectly imperfect self.

He loved that.

But instead he said, "She's a great friend."

Fitz's face fell.

Keefe didn't need to ask why.

For surely even he had heard the lie in the last word.

A/N: Some of you are probably thinking about how pointless this chapter was.

But I like it. I think it's important for Ritz and Keefe to still be... friends. Their friendship is really important in my opinion.

Anyway, next update I have a little talk to share on some 'background information'

Happy Reading and Happy Holidays!
