Flashback
August 1995; West Valley Elementary School

Little Erica Brown walked through the doors of West Valley Elementary School and into her new classroom. Her stomach roiled as she looked around and hung her backpack on it's assigned hook. She had gone to private school all her life, but Priscilla and Bobby wanted her to attend public school, given she was extroverted.

As Erica sat down, she didn't notice a beautiful little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes sitting beside her. The little girl was holding two barbies in her hands. One was a paramedic barbie, and one was a doctor barbie. "Hi. I'm Sylvie." the little blonde girl introduced

"Hi, I'm Erica." the little brunette girl shyly spoke. "I like your Barbies. My grandma Nettie used to design Barbies and has a bunch."

"Thank you." Sylvie smiled. "Would you like to play with one? We still have time before Mrs. Polan comes in? You can be the doctor Barbie if you'd like, you look like you'll be a doctor one day."

Erica smiled as she accepted the Barbie. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. You can actually keep that one. I have another one just like that at home. I bought that one with my allowance money." Sylvie smiled

"Really? Thank you." Erica smiled.

"You're welcome." Sylvie smiled. "So are you from around here? I haven't seen you in the school before."

"We live in Encino." Erica said as two little girls continued playing with the barbies. "I used to go to a private school, but my parents thought it would be a good idea for me to go to public school."

"I live in North Hollywood. I'm glad you're here. Mrs. Gray is so nice. She's recently married and has a new baby. You said your grandma used to design Barbies and has a bunch? Like you get to play with them?" Sylvie asked

Erica shook her head no. "I don't get to play with them, as they're in a display case in her home, but they are so pretty."

The two little girls played with the barbies and laughed, until they had to put them away. Erica was definitely not a nervous wreck anymore. "Hey, do you want to be best friends?" Sylvie asked

"Sure." Erica smiled

"Yay!" Sylvie smiled as she embraced her new best friend, that would be her best friend for the rest of her life.
