Out of all the characters in Honkai Star Rail, Welt Yang is easily the best character in the series and for good reason he was one of the original characters in Honkai Impact 3rd as it's been confirmed that Welt in Star Rail and Welt in Honkai Impact 3rd are in fact the same person we see proof of this because we see Tesla, Einstein, and Joyce's pictures on Welt's picture for Star Rail.

And we have even more proof as we saw a glimpse of Himeko from Star Rail in the Alien Space manga.

So I think it's safe to say that yeah Welt managed to cross into the Star Rail universe to not only prevent what happened to his Himeko from happening to another but to also find a way back home. So the biggest question is how long as Welt been in the Star Rail universe? Which is why for today we're going to be try and answer this question so without further ado let's get started.
In order to determine how long ago Welt left to the Honkai Star Rail universe. In one of her dialogues Himeko mentions that many years ago while being tasked by Herta to some abandoned ruined world and they come across a ship and that's how she met Welt.

Many years could mean things but generally many years can usually mean around 6 or 7 years as a dozen years is likely 8 to 9 years. Now going a step further let's look at the Honkai timeline to see where Welt could've ended up in the Star Rail verse. In the Alien Space manga it was confirmed to have taken place in the year 2029.

This would mean that at this point in the timeline it would have been 12 years after the events of Honkai Impact 3rd Part 1, 11 years after the events of Part 1.5, 5 to 4 years after the events of Part 2, and 3 years after the events of A Post Honkai Odyssey. You guys can probably guess that around this time all of the characters have completely their missions and defeated threats such as Sirin, Otto, Kevin, Project Stigma, Sa, whatever threats that take place in Part 2, and the Sky People and everything seems to be living normal lives though they might go on missions here and there but nonetheless at that point Kiana would've returned to Earth to live happy lives with her friends especially Mei. However Welt at this point is discovering a Himeko from another dimension and needs to prevent that Himeko from dying the exact same way his Himeko did. In a nutshell Welt is trying to prevent a canon event from happening something that would infuriate Miguel O'Hera aka Spider-Man 2099 to no end.
Jokes aside though based on the proof we have this means that Welt met SR's Himeko and joined the Astral Express in the year 2029 and if we do the math and add the many years aka the 6 and 7 years of the time that would've gone by this means that Welt has been in the Star Rail universe in the years 2035 or 2036 that's a huge game changer which means that the events of Honkai Star Rail takes place 18 or 19 years after the events Honkai Impact 3rd it's also pretty huge because this means that the Trailblazer started their journey around 20 years after Kiana did in 2016. Now this is just a theory as Welt might've be in the Star Rail universe for even longer my hope is that Welt was not in the SR verse for too long.
