Stigmata. Hearing that word makes anyone who has read the Bible turn their heads. If one were to ask what a Stigmata could be, there are many meanings behind that one word that would be received by the one who questioned.
In a literary sense, Stigmata refers to a mark of shame, or defamation.
If one were to refer to the Bible or the Christian pantheon, the Stigmata are bodily wounds, scars and pain which appear in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ: the hands, wrists, feet, near the heart, the head (from the crown of thorns), and back (from carrying the cross and scourging).
However, in the world of Honkai, the term "Stigmata" differs from the above mentioned ones.
On this earth, there is a reoccurring phenomenon called the Honkai. Meaning "Collapse". This unknown phenomenon, that has remained a mystery to this day to the human civilization, and has been repeating itself over and over throughout the history of humanity.
If one were to say it in layman's terms, it's akin to a natural disaster or a calamity.
