"Hi, Jay," a girl says while passing by him.
"Hey," he replies with a smirk.
"Jay," another girl sighs.
"Hey, what's up?" he says flirtatiously.
"Hi."
"Why do you torture them? Just pick someone to take to Cotillion already," Carlos says beside him.
"I'm going solo. That way, I can dance with all of them," Jay replies while winking at another girl.
"Ah! You're the expert," Carlos chuckles. "Um, Jay... if you were gonna ask someone, someone you're already very close with, what's the best way to go?" he then asks slowly.
"Listen, all you got to do... is look like me," Jay jokes.
"Oh, ha-ha." As Carlos and Jay keep walking, they suddenly run into y/n.
"Hey, y/n," Carlos says with a smile.
"Hey," she returns the smile.
"I was wondering...uh..." he starts, but quickly changes what he's about to say once he sees Jane, Lonnie, and Evie arrive behind her. "if you liked the.... carrot cake last night," he finishes awkwardly.
"I had the pumpkin pie," y/n chuckles.
"Oh, cool. Um, uh--"
"Smooth," Jay says sarcastically as he pulls Carlos to the direction they were walking in before.
"I have an opening for a fitting at 3:00. Who wants it?" Evie asks.
"Me!" Lonnie squeals. "Sorry."
"Perfect. I'll take you later," Evie says to Jane. Just then they see Mal walking along the path.
"Mal?" Jane says.
"Yes?" she replies.
"I hate to keep bugging you, but the decorating committee needs more answers. So, as much as I hate to, um... you know, um..." Jane says.
"Bug me?" Mal finishes.
"Right."
"Yeah, Jane, I would love to. I just have to get to class."
"I know, just nod if you like it."
"Okay."
"Chair swags. Entry banner. Twinkle lights. Napkin design. Table bunting," Jane lists. "And you still haven't picked the party favors yet."
"Honestly, Jane, whatever you think--" Mal starts but gets cut off by Jane.
"I mean, we can do chains, key charms, pen toppers. I kind of love the pen toppers, but, I mean, we can do all three."
Mal's eyes suddenly flash a neon shade of green before returning to their normal eye colour. "I say pen toppers," she says with a smile.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"You won't regret it," Jane smiles.
"Okay."
"I can hardly wait to see what your wedding will look like!" Lonnie exclaims.
"Me, too. Wait! What?!" Mal says in shock.
"The Royal Cotillion is like getting engaged to be engaged to be engaged," Jane states.
"I knew it!" Evie says.
"Well, everyone knows it," Lonnie says.
"You knew, right Mal?" y/n asks.
"I didn't know it!" Mal exclaims. "How come nobody told me that? Is my entire life just planned out in front of me--" she says breathlessly, but then Ben appears behind her.
