Scarlett: What were you two talking about?
Matilda: Magizoology, why?
Scarlett: Did you find out anything?
Matilda: Nothing that we don’t already know. I don’t understand, why do I have to gather entail? I feel like I’m betraying her trust.
Scarlett: Think about the end goal. If all goes to plan, then-
Matilda: You’ve mentioned that a hundred times! I don’t care about what happens in the end! What I do care about is our friendship!
Scarlett: Oh please, you aren’t friends with her! You can’t make friends with the enemy!
Matilda: But-
Scarlett: No buts!
Scarlett sighs.
Scarlett: Look, think about it this way. She’s only using you to succeed in life! She doesn’t actually want to be your friend. But I? I want to help you succeed. I want to help you prove everyone wrong.
Matilda: Laneys not like that though! She would never do such a thing!
Scarlett: Unfortunately, she would. We used to be friends you know. Until she got what she wanted out of me and just threw me to the side.
Matilda: What?
Scarlett: It's true.
Matilda takes all of this in.
Scarlett: So, what do you say, are you still with me?
Matilda thinks for a moment.
Matilda: Yeah, okay.
Scarlett smiles.
Scarlett: Glad to hear it.
