Khushi walked into the house looking dejected. Suryakanth approached her immediately. He had been waiting for her. The lawyer had assured him that Vivek would not get out. He hoped his Khushi would be happy, but the look of utter dejection on her face shocked him.
"Kya hua baccha, itne preshaan kyun hai?"
Khushi collapsed beside him on the couch. She had cried herself dry. Her eyes burned but no tears formed.
"Khushi"
"Vikky ne ane se mana kar deya" She sounded so hopeless that Suryakanth's heart went out to her. He knew the boy would not agree. He was raised by Vivek. It was given that he would love his father.
"Bacha, Vikky ko thoda waqt dey. Use samjahne de kya ho raha hai. Woh tughe janta bhi nehi....."
"Main uske maa hoon dad" Khushi looked at him. Her heart constricted. "Does he not feel anything for me?"
"Use achanak tere bare me pata chala hai beta. He is 17. Young and impulsive. You have been 17 once. You know kids that age don't mean what they say. They speak their heart. I am not saying every teenager acts that way, but we should also take the situation into consideration. I think you should rethink the court case...."
"No dad" Khushi got up. He had lost too much in life because of the man. She had blindly trusted Vivek. Believed every lie that he fed her. At 16 she had imagined her whole life with Vivek. Her world came crashing down when he betrayed her and ran away with the money. She could forgive him for taking the money, but she could not forgive him for taking away her child.
