Adults say growing up to just stay young, to just stay dumb
They always said enjoy your youth, but they don't realize it's so uncouth
Cause they grew up a long time ago they don't even remember I bet they don't even know
Cause growing up was difficult, growing up was hard
They didn't warn me life was gonna spear me in the heart
They didn't warn me life was gonna spear me in the heart
Spear me in the heart
Spear me in the heart
They didn't warn me growing up my life would spear me in the heart
They didn't warn me, oh, they didn't warn me

Adults say enjoy your youth but its so uncouth cause they can't see all the damage growing up has done to me
Had done to me
My youth was hard and cold and I was old before I was even told what I was meant to be

Adults say enjoy your youth enjoy but it's so uncouth cause they can't see that I've already struggle so much since the age of three (oh since the age of three)

My mom was a fan of the bottle
My dad wasn't in the home
Can't you think of what an affect that had on a little girl all alone?

At three years old my mom was drunk
My dad was gone
My life was sunk
I didn't know what to expect
Didn't know what would happen next

And I didn't know
No I didn't know

Told to enjoy my youth but they can't see
What it did, did to me
It ruined me
It ruined me

I didn't have a chance to be young
I didn't have a youth
Always talking with my tongue
That they say is so uncouth
Say is so uncouth

Cause they say growing up to just stay young to just stay dumb
Did you ever wonder what being so naive could have done to me?
It could have ruined my life
I might not have survived

Meant to be heard
Not meant to be hidden
Not meant to be young and silent
Not meant to be dumb and stupid for your gain
All that it'd do would cause me pain

I grew up
Oh, I grew up fast
Bet you didn't realize the effects you set would last (Jan 2024)
