Lightning struck in the darkened sky. Purple guys in brown and green robes, and jutted out teeth held sharp crystal weapons towards Zane, Kai, Jay, Cole and Nya. Their leader wore a large crown on his head, as he held a scepter that also doubled as a weapon, and wore more robes than the rest of his people.
"Lock them up. All but one. The Gift." Their leader Mammatus orders his people. Jay goes in front of Kai when the weapons go closer.
"Which one?" A Keeper asks their king.
"Guys, is all this really necessary? All the pushing and the poking and the zapping. Why don't we start over?" He clears his throat and slightly bows before Mammatus. "My name's Jay, nice to meet you!"
Mammatus, pleased by the gesture, smiles a bit and looks towards one of the Keepers. "This one." The team gasps, as a couple of the Keepers escort Jay away from his friends, while the rest of the group of Keepers escorted them to their cell.
"Wait, where are you taking him?"
"Hey!"
"Back off!"
"Jay!"
"Careful with that thing!" Kai screams. The Keepers led them to a large cell that was enough to occupy at least 20 people. One of them puts their spear into the keyhole on the ground, and once it glows and turns, the door opens. The Ninja were pushed in. "You're making a big mistake!"
Cole holds the bars of their cell. "Let us out of here!" He summons his Elemental powers while the rest of the team try to lift the cell, but a Keeper taps on the cell door, electrocuting it to make the Ninja back off. The team land far away from the door. "Remind me not to try that again." He groans.
A couple of figures in the cell walk up to the group worriedly. "Nya? Kai?" Misako's voice asks them worriedly. The Ninja smile.
"Misako!" Nya says with relief.
"Are you all okay?" Misako asks the Ninja.
"Yeah, we're okay." Nya answers, as she and the team get up.
"How about you guys?" Cole asks Misako and Wu.
"Yes, we're fine." Wu assures them.
"They've treated us pretty well, all in all." Misako explains.
"I've been in quicksand that was more comfortable," Clutch says, and everyone turns their attention to see Clutch using two explorers tending to his every need. "Dwayne! How's that tunnel coming along?"
Dwayne, who was digging a tunnel and had barely even gotten started, stops digging with the spoon and looks down at his shaking hands. "My hands hurt."
"Why are they doing this? What do they want?" Nya asks them.
"It has something to do with some artifact they seem to be protecting. I believe they think we were trying to steal it." Misako explains.
Kai and Cole groan and turn to Clutch again with raised eyebrows and hands on their hips. "Were you trying to steal it?" Cole asks Clutch.
Clutch gasps, offended. "How dare you! I'm an archeologist, not a thief!" Nya and Cole glance at each other, not believing Clutch for a second. "I study, and I, uh, bring back. To my place. To study some more." The explorers who were on Clutch's side nod in agreement.
"Where are Lloyd, Katarina and Jay?" Misako asks the Ninja worriedly.
"Lloyd and Katarina managed to get away. He's still out there somewhere. And Jay, they took somewhere else." Kai explains to Misako and Wu.
