"New school, new you!!"
A sentence she was completely tired of hearing. Each year, since she was five years old, this seemed to be the only thing her life was consistent with. Moving, not doing well, parents want a better start, move again, before going to a new school. Regardless of how many starts she had, (Y/N) always found herself abnormal.
Walking down the street, (Y/N) found herself watching the other kids, who happily chatted as they walked to school. Despite longing to be like everyone else, she always seemed to be withdrawn and weary around everyone, including her own parents.
Since she was younger, a piece of herself has always seemed to form in front of her eyes. It could speak, play, write, and draw, just like any other person, yet no matter how much she'd bring it up, she'd always be called 'sick' or 'naive', causing her to become more guarded to the point of her heart being unable to let anyone in.
Sitting uncomfortably at her desk, she found herself nervous as those around her seemed to have no issues with greeting and talking to each other. Once again feeling like an outlier, she found the familiar person who surrounded her to appear, its presence soothing away her anxiety.
Feeling as if a person was staring at her from the doorway, she quickly glanced up, only to be met with the wide violet eyes of a red-haired boy.
Thinking it was impossible for the boy to be staring at her, she couldn't help but watch him out of curiosity, waiting for him to call for someone he knew, yet he never did.
Watching as the other half of her calmly approached the boy, she found herself intrigued as she got a closer look. She found the two scars on his eyes but thought nothing of it as she found herself reaching out to touch the boy.
Despite this being a normal occurrence for her, as no one can see this ghost, let alone feel it, she found herself shocked as the boy looked directly into the ghost's eyes before a green tendril slowly pulled out from his body, slowly reaching out to touch her ghost.
Calling her ghost back in shock, (Y/N) fearfully stared as she was unsure of what to do; she'd never met someone with a ghost just like hers.
As the school bell rang, she couldn't help but watch him walk away, his soft, knowing eyes gently shifting away.
Sitting alone at a table in the cafeteria, (Y/N) nervously poked at her food as she felt the judging eyes of the other students around her.
As she kept looking down, a pair of brown loafers came into view as they approached the table.
"Would you mind if I sat here?"
Looking up to be greeted by soft violet eyes, she realized that it was the boy from earlier. Despite being skeptical about why he'd want to sit with her, she'd feel awkward if she refused, causing her to silently nod.
"Your ghost," he quickly brought up, "it's beautiful." He added, causing the girl to blush. "How long have you had your ghost?" She nervously dodged, causing the boy to laugh. "Since I was a kid, I'm assuming you're the same." He slyly smiled. Giving him a nod, the boy's violet eyes never seemed to look away from her as she tried to focus on her food.
"Noriaki," he simply said, causing (Y/N) to look up at the boy in confusion.
"My name is Noriaki Kakyoin," he introduced with a bight smile, causing the girl to blush with embarrassment.
"(Y/N) (L/N)..."
Since that day, she has found herself comfortable with someone just like her, and it didn't take long for Kakyoin to slip his way into her everyday life. Whether it be walking home, eating lunch, or even joining the same club, (Y/N) only seemed to grow more and more fond of the violet eyes that seemed to follow her everywhere.
Nervously sitting on the park bench dawning a Kiamono, (Y/N) couldn't help but feel a tinge of anxiety fill her chest as this was the first festival she's ever attended without her parents. Looking into the compact mirror she carried around, (Y/N) found her mind racing as she looked down at the bento box she had prepared for the boy to show her gratitude for his kindness.
"(Y/N)," the soft voice of Kakyoin called as he made his way over to the girl.
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting," he said with a soft gaze. "Of course not!" (Y/N) was quickly confirmed. "You never have me wait that long, so I'm grateful," she quickly confessed, causing Kakyoin to look at the girl. "In fact, since the moment we've met, you've been nothing but respectful and kind towards me," she shyly added.
Quietly picking up the bento, (Y/N) found herself nervously staring at her feet as she bowed to the boy. "Thank you so much for taking care of me." she quickly spoke. After a few seconds of silence, (Y/N) slolwy looked up, finding it unusal that the usually dismissive Kakyoin still remained silent.
Looking up in shock, (Y/N) was met with the blushing face of the red-haired boy, who could only stare at the girl with admiration and restraint. "At first, I was just trying to be with someone who was the same as me," Kakyoin softly confessed. "But over time, everything about you has been capturing my mind," he said as he quickly pulled the girl into a tight hug, guiding her head onto his shoulder. "So forgive me (Y/N)," he gently whispered in the girl's ear.
"But I just can't let you go."
