The next morning, I woke up with Ryan knocked out next to me, arms wrapped around me like she didn't wanna let go. I leaned over, kissed her on the forehead, then slipped out of bed to use the bathroom. Took a hot shower, brushed my teeth, but when I wiped the fog from the mirror, the reflection staring back didn't feel like me. I was messed up. Finding out Kasin ain't mine—man, that hit different. "Look who's up and didn't make a sound. Say good morning to Daddy," Ryan cooed, holding Kali out to me.
I reached for her, smiling as I held her close. "Hey, Daddy's princess. I love you," I said, kissing her chubby little cheeks.

After she put on sweatpants with one of my shirts, she climbed back into bed, looking at me with concern. "Alright, so what's up? How are you? I know last night was tough."
Kali was bouncing in my arms as I tried to find the words. "I feel... incomplete without my son. I hate that I let myself build a connection with him over the past 7 months. You know I had doubts from the jump, but the moment I looked into his eyes when he was born, I shoved all those doubts aside. I just wanted him to be my boy."
