"What's it like?"
The space cowboy perked his head up at Jimin's words, and his hat flattened against his forehead as tufts of wavy blonde hair peeked out from under the dark brown fabric. The blue crystal necklace dangling off his chest hit the white table almost as square as Vladimir's head.
Jimin plopped down across from him and listened to the silence interrupted by the dying AC sputtering out its final puffs of cool air. They had the credits to fix it, but between constant heatleech inspections and taking care of a cat, no one had the energy to stop for a repairman.
"Sorry?" Sam asked, quirking his bushy brows.
Jimin folded his hands together, reveling in the way the warm glove soothed his aching bare hand. It had used more powers that week than usual, and his entire body throbbed as a result. "Being a dad."
"Good." Sam paused to shovel a spoonful of his baked beans in his mouth, and Jimin winced and wondered how anyone could enjoy such a disgusting puddle of goo. "Cora's a sweet kid. Never picks fights, reads all day, smarter than Jungkook. Can't complain."
Jimin chuckled. "Sounds fun."
They went quiet after that. They were in Sam's bedroom, which consisted of a window that had a view of the stars and the navy blue color of Volii Alpha. They opted to enter orbit while Jimin waited to start his next Ryujin task. Taehyung wanted to see the stars, and Jimin wasn't one to deny his best friend anything. If he had the privilege of calling Taehyung his best friend, that was. It wasn't like they had much history outside of not killing each other. Maybe Jimin should stop assuming. It wouldn't get him anywhere, would it?
