Chapter 99: A Chance To Focus Again

Bobby was resting on Poe's couch.

“Oh, heavens…” She said, “I feel funny after that migraine…”

“Hmm… Poe said, looking after Bobby, “Your charm has glowed, hasn't it?”

“Yeah… I've never seen it do that before… Is it new?”

Poe and Bobby looked at CatNap, DogDay and CraftyCorn. CatNap was looking for spare flat mattresses for him, DogDay and CraftyCorn to sleep on for the night.

“No, it's not new.” DogDay replied,

“Me, CatNap and DogDay possess this similar power as well.” CraftyCorn replied,

“Oh…” Bobby said, “Was it… the bond you three shared that caused it to occur?”

“That, and… GuardianDove?” DogDay replied, “I think. He helped you with what's going on, so… It made sense that he would help me, CatNap and Crafty with what's going on…”

“Right, right, I understand…”

CatNap came out with the flat mattresses.

“You know, I could have used some help, Poe.” He said to Poe, “But I don't mind, since sleep is a priority of mine.”

Poe chuckled.

“Fair enough.” They said as they straightened their glasses, “Now then, I think it's time I tell you all what's going on.”

“It's about the charms, yeah?” CatNap asked them,

“That, plus, what my other four friends are under after being mind controlled by two individuals, one of them being Prince Prototype.”

Everyone else was shocked by what they heard.

“There's another major threat?!” DogDay said, shocked, “Are they related to the double kidnappings?!”

“Indeed they were, after researching hard and long.” Poe replied, “Prince Prototype was in jail for his rather heinous crimes…”

“What were the crimes?” CatNap asked them,

“Huge crimes on murder, manipulation and kidnappings. After being caught, he was sentenced to death. Until an explosion was set off. No one knew what caused the explosion, but everyone in that prison Prince Prototype was in, were killed. Every prisoner, every guard, was killed, except for Prince Prototype. He managed to survive, but lost his legs. …And his voice.”

“...I'm sorry, but he lost his voice?” DogDay wondered,

“Yes, I guess screaming that an explosion happened right in front of you cost him his voice. It's… different.”

“Then what happened?” CraftyCorn wondered,

“He survived and was rebuilded to be part critter, part machine. He was rebuilt by a man named LabRat.”

“Oh, so we already knew that little bastard was with him.” CatNap said, “Who else was he with?”

“At one point, he and LabRat were with another Critter with high knowledge of the red smoke.”

CatNap clenched his teeth.

“Umm…” Crafty said, concerned, “What was his name?”

“Dr. Harley Sawyer, a rabbit critter full of knowledge and a potential friend or partner-in-crime to LabRat.” Poe replied, “Before you knew about the red smoke, CatNap, Harley wanted to use the red smoke to create a mass murdering spree across Crittopia.”
