I had fallen asleep.

When had I fallen asleep?

No idea, but the stench had only grown since last week.

I knew everyone here had to be dead, either that or I couldn't see, hear, or feel them.

Suddenly I heard a door slam open, the heavy metal door that opened whenever someone came down here.

I trembled in fear.

"Sara?" A voice called out, a searching voice.

"Help!" I croaked, so quietly, even I almost didn't hear it.

Another door near me opened. They were coming closer.

"Gosh. There's so many bodies! How do we know they didn't get Sara?" A concerned voice rang out in the air, clearer than before.

I started struggling, and tried to call out for help again.

"I'm in here! In here!" My voice sounded louder to me, but that could be for any reason.

"Guys. Did you hear that?" A soft, female voice said. I choked back a sob of relief.

"Hear what?" A man's voice said, scaring me into silence.

"Nevermind. I just thought I heard something." The girls voice said again.

"Go check all the rooms!" A commanding voice boomed. I heard the pounding of footsteps get closer and I whimpered in fear.

I suddenly got extremely claustrophobic. I was hardly breathing as it was before, now the hyperventilating took what little oxygen I had away.

"Oh my gosh." Someone whispered, low enough I couldn't discern who.

I didn't care anymore. I just wanted, no needed, out of here.

"Help. Me." I whispered, and then I let the ever constant darkness pull me into its embrace.

It was a relief to not have to suffer anymore.

And despite what some might say,

It was nice to die.
