what is the price of freedom
is it the tears, in a little boy's eyes
sitting beside his dead mother
is it the pain in a teenage girl's heart
mourning the loss of her brother
is it the anger and the confusion
at the death of your only son
is it the emptiness of being alone
nothing left to share, when the day is done
what is the price of freedom
is it brothers killing each other
in the name of a higher power
is it neighbours destroying each other's lands
to sit in their ivory towers
is it countries annihilating those near by
to gain their gold and oil
is it the faces of those people
who died without a fair trial
what is the price of freedom
will we ever really be free
will there be peace for you and me
will our children live to see the day
or is it time for all to pray
what is the price of freedom
is it possible ...
will we ever get along
or
will there only truly be
freedom ...
be
peace
when the whole human race
is
gone
