Peace has a Price

One cultivates the fruit of peace

With work and sacrifice.

No crop, worth having, growing now

Can come without a price.

And peace is not a solo act.

It takes a team to build.

But balanced on a razors edge,

It may be quickly killed.

The strong and selfish, leverage pain

And call it's absence peace.

"If you'll just do what I ...suggest...

Your troubles might just cease."

The "greater good"philosophy,

Is based on give and take.

The opposite, "What's good for me,

I'll take all I can rake."

The hope of peace looks outwardly.

Our need are all the same.

How can we work together so

That all might win the game.

There is now easy path to peace,

Each step must be sought out.

But constant moving toward that goal,

Will bring it all about.
