It's not that I'm naïve. I just trusted he'd love me back. I never realized how much more than that he really loved me. His love shamed mine. A love that can make a person do the things he did—it's almost scary. In fact, if it wasn't for his father, I might have run away. But Julius was such a kind man. He may never have found out about us (or maybe he did, and that was what happened to him in the end) but the advice he gave was universal, and gave me the strength to trust my sweetheart.
