After we got onto our big blow-up raft with a little bit of struggling, and struggled more to redistribute our weight, deciding eventually to stargaze hand-in hand. There weren't many stars in Columbus because of all the lights, always on like an aura, but they abounded by the lake.

"Do you know the constellations," I asked him, and he laughed and shook his head.

"They all look sort of the same to me. Do you know them?"

"Some of them," I said, squinting, my hand lifting his to trace their shapes. "That's Virgo, I know that one. Right here, see her?"
