He was attentive, and gentle, but Julius didn't know that there was only so far into the truth he could go. When we paused midway so he could make a call, I sat cleaning my face with tissues and thought about Richard last night. He'd seemed so natural. Sensual and powerful, some great jaguar prowling around is prey. And so happy. I'd never seen him so happy. It made me sad that I wasn't enough by myself to make him happy.
But, if I wasn't enough, would he have asked me to marry me in the middle of all that?
