I can't believe this happened to me. The only person I thought would protect me, wasn't there at all.

Saturday (Present Day)

"Oh my gosh, my best friend is leaving me!"

Tatiana yelped, acting so dramatic.

"Oh T, calm down. It's only for a couple of weeks."

"Still that's too long."

"Enjoy some time with your family T."

"Girl, my family crazy,so you know I will." Fr

I laughed with her as I packed my last suitcase in my trunk.

"Well, I guess this is goodbye," she whimpered, pretending to cry.

"Oh, stop it Tat. I'll see you in a couple of weeks."

"Alright, bye girl."

"Bye."

I hopped into the driver's side and started up the car. I waved goodbye to Tatiana and was on my way to the airport.

I opened my eyes and I looked outside my window. A smile formed on my face when I realized I finally reached Birmingham, Alabama. The plane finally landed and I grabbed my things. I wanted to surprise my parents, so I decided to call my cousin to come pick me up. I played on my phone until I heard a car horn beep. I lifted my head up and it was a 11' Honda Civic waiting on me.

"Kharter!!"

"Dominique!!"

I ran to my cousin and we pulled each other into a hug.

"Oh my god, you look amazing!!"

"You too, you're engaged?"

"Yes girl, to the most amazing man ever."

"When will I meet this "most amazing man ever?"

"Tonight, we're having a small get together at Grandma's house."

"Alright."

"Come on, let me help you with your bags."

She grabbed my luggage and I grabbed my carry-on. After getting loaded up in the trunk, we were on our way. She drove through Birmingham until we got on the interstate to head to Montevallo.

"So, how's the Big Apple?"

"It's great."

"Where's Malcolm?"

"Oh, we're no longer together."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Oh, it's fine. How's things going back home?"

"Good, just preparing for my wedding and all. You coming right?"

"Yeah, when is it?"

"December 26th, we want to throw like a Winter Wonderland themed wedding ."

"Oh, that's sounds fun. So, tell me about this fiancé of yours."

"That will ruin the surprise, silly. Let's just say he changed me."

"Nique, you said that about the last three guys."

"But this one is different, I promise."

I chuckled and we continued to drive in silence. We finally made it to Montevallo and we pulled up at my parents' house.
