I had never seen anything like this. Matthew and Tyler left to carry out Stephen's instructions. Stephen quickly moved to the Command Center downstairs and communicated with his Betas. He made arrangements for an immediate surprise attack on the three western monitoring stations on the coast. There were only four men at each station, they were on two-week rotations. We had received no warnings from the stations, yet when we started to scan the seas from the Command Center, we discovered a small flotilla approaching. These ships were using stealth technology and were probably too small to be noticed by our military. This force was made only to destroy this compound, not attack our country.

As Stephen coordinated his efforts on the Western attacks, Tyler communicated that all of Donoghue's family, friends, co-workers, and even his poker buddies- everyone was now in lockdown. The roundup had been swift and efficient, with all electronics confiscated. There were sure to be some bruised egos later, but it had to be done. It was fascinating to watch my Mate's strategies as he overcame obstacle after obstacle. He was able to think lightning fast, he thought of contingency plans, backup options, enemy alternatives- all with amazing composure. Every once in a while he would look over at me sitting to the side and breathe a sigh of relief. He needed me in the room to help balance him, but I felt useless.

While the surprise attacks were being executed by the enemy, Stephen decided to let the boats land. He would neutralize the strike force when they came ashore and hoped to steal one of their boats. This would only work if we had the element of surprise, and there was quite a lot that could go wrong. The most obvious being the spies in the monitoring stations would probably give the flotilla some sort of pass code or message. Stephen just gave the order to torture the spies until they gave us the information. It was hard to hear these decisions, but we needed to save not only the pack- but civilian human lives as well. Stephen sent groups of warriors to each strategic place along the coast where the flotilla might land. We had rocket launchers and heavy weapons if needed, but we were hoping for a quieter engagement. We wanted to minimize contact with the local authorities.

After Stephen had made all his plans and decisions, he waited for results. He also made backup plans in case some of the rogue assassins got past our lines of defense. He had snipers in the trees with night vision equipment, and every adult and teenager was trained in the art of war. He had different types of monitors placed in key positions in wilderness pathways, roads, and all around the compound. These included infra-red, motion, laser and night vision equipment, as well as communication interceptors and jammers.

It was only a few minutes when Stephen started to get information from our front lines. Our middle monitoring station was secure, one spy was killed but one was captured alive. They were starting their interrogation. Soon the northern most station was secured without casualties. One of the spies told them everything and we had the coded messages and responses. All the spies would be held and put on trial- which was just a formality. These wolves were as good as dead. Finally the last station reported in, there was some gunfire upon entry, but communications were jammed and the spies were unable to send any messages. All was secure.

Now we just had to wait until the small flotilla landed. It appeared they were headed toward the south end of the peninsula- Grays Harbor. It was the landing closest to us. Stephen figured their plan was to go as far as possible by boat, then they would head to Hoodsport and the compound by road somehow. It was important to neutralize each assassin, it only took one to try to kill Stephen or myself.
