I went in search of the monster. Time had stopped in the pack house, no one moved and no one showed any signs of life. I worked on breathing, I worked on staying calm. The madman was here, had invaded my space, my home, my life. I was a virtual prisoner because of him, his threat, his obsession. This ended today. I didn't see him as I searched the bottom floor, so I went outside. He wanted me to notice, he wanted to be found. What his plan was I had no idea, but I knew he was a serial killer and would stop at nothing to create the Machine of Death. Was he always like this, or did the evil surrounding the Machine take its toll by warping his mind and soul? I decided I didn't care.

How he was able to create such a large 'freeze' bubble I couldn't figure out. We had disrupted his operations, but he obviously had expanded on his original 'freeze machine' designs and made them stronger. I looked around me, there were birds that had stopped mid-flight, there was no breeze, no sounds, just my own breath in my ears and the crunching of my feet walking on the uneven ground.

He wanted to be found so I walked to the center of our village, there was a flagpole and a nice little park. And as I neared I saw him sitting on a park bench watching me. There was a child next to him, Robby! He had Robby sitting next to him, frozen but within reach. Seething, I kept my breath even and forced myself to keep my eyes away from the child. There were other people frozen on sidewalks, a car or two stopped on the road. My world was totally still like a movie set, I kept waiting for someone to say 'action'.

It was at this moment that I felt the most lethal, this moment I was the most powerful wolf on the planet. I could destroy this maniac with the flick of the wrist, but what of Robby? Zeke chose his time and place wisely, he knew I wouldn't kill innocents. But what if I would for a larger cause, and when did I change to even consider this? Could I make that choice that I didn't want to make? Would the sacrifices be worth it? I thought of all those things as I walked slowly toward Zeke with murder on my mind- and in my heart.

"Luna, so good of you to join me!" Zeke jovially shouted as I drew near. "We have some things to discuss. Again."

I noticed a few specs of blood showing through his shirt, his injuries must have been severe if he was still bleeding. Werewolves healed quickly but some wounds took longer, and some wounds were laced with different substances which prevented healing until treated properly. I wondered what his torturers used? It couldn't have been good.

"Suicide mission, Zeke?" I asked with my brows raised.

"Quite the contrary, Luna," he replied, relaxing and sitting back and stretching his arms along the bench. "I have a proposal you will want to listen to." Zeke opened his palm and showed me a light green flame, the same color that his eyes glowed.
