Chapter 4: First Dance

Hey guys I'm so sorry it took me forever, I've been busy with school, I'll start updating much quicker now :)

I felt my breath catch in my throat as he asked me that question. I knew it would never leave my mind, no matter where I went. The interest that glowed in his eyes, the way he seemed to be interested in me and only me. His stance, his hair, the way his soft voice wasn't too commanding but willed you to say yes, and especially the British accent that laced through his voice. "Hello..." I stuttered, giving a smile as butterflies fluttering around my stomach. "I'd love to." I whispered back, feeling his hand come in contact with mine.

He lead me to the dance floor and I quickly followed him, managing for once to not stumble over my own feet and embarrass myself. He choose a spot that was not close to his friends or mine, instead the corner particularly close to Rob.

He gently pulled me into his chest but gave me enough room to feel comfortable. I could smell his cologne but he did not reek of it, which I preferred over the cloud that Rob always had. He also smelled lightly of alcohol, but I didn't mind.

"What's your name?" He asked softly, swaying with me in time to the music.

"Alexandria..." I whispered. I gave a smile and he did as well, making my heart flutter.

"I'm Nicholas." He said and I nodded, saying "Hello Nicholas."

"Hello Alexandria."

I giggled, hearing him chuckle along with me.

"I hope I'm not making your boyfriend too jealous." He said, eyes flicking away from my face and to someone behind me.

"Who?" I asked, turning to look over my shoulder. I saw Rob glaring at Nicholas and I chewed the inside of my lip. I turned back, saying "No...ex-boyfriend. We broke up last week."

"Oh...that's good."

I looked up at him, a bit surprised. "Why?"

He shrugged, saying "Well you're free, as am I." I blushed softly, and he chuckled. He brought his lips to my ear, whispering "If you're interested, please meet me outside in a few minutes." I could feel his warm breath caressing my neck, shivers gliding down my spine. My eyes fluttered shut, and he pressed a small kiss to my neck and pulling away.

I stood there for a moment, still able to smell his cologne.

I staggered back to my friends, suddenly blocked off my another tall individual. "What the hell was that?!" I looked up into the very angry face of my ex-boyfriend.

"Rob, it's nothing. He just asked me for a dance."

"He kissed your neck, Alex!"

"So?!" I demanded, standing up a bit straighter. "What about her, huh? The one you cheated on me with! I bet you kissed her neck! We're not dating anymore, leave me alone." I shouldered past him, but he grabbed my arm and spun me, pulling me into his chest.

"How dare you bring that up! I told you I was drunk, I told you I didn't mean to!" The alcohol on his breath was a lot more terrifying.

I felt my stomach lurch, hating everything at the moment. I wanted to get back to my friends and tell them I was going out with Nicholas, I looked up into Rob's eyes, feeling the remainder of my heart smash. "I hate you." I whispered, yanking my hand away. "I hate what you did to me, I hate how you think I still want you. I'll come back to you when I have no dignity or pride, and that will never happen. I hate you!" My voice had risen with every word, my last exclamation filling the now silent room with my broken heart.

Every head turned to see me sobbing, to see Rob look completely surprised and offended. I ran through the doors, running into someone.

"Alexandria, what's wrong?" Came a soft voice. I looked up into Nicholas's caring eyes, just saying "Everything." In a broken gasp.

Hey guys, sorry it's so short, but I'm going to leave my chapters like this. I'm going to update on a daily basis, or as close as I can, so I won't just leave you hanging with horribly short chapters.

I also noticed I used fluttered way too much. Hehe I just like that word.
