~Emma's POV~
I come to school and see every girl in school surrounded in different groups by the wall, then Charlotte came up to me
"Hey Emma, did you hear the special announcement today?", she said
"No, can you tell me what it is please?", I said
"The mayor of Swellview is retiring, nobody is running for mayor, Mrs. Swellview is married and is now a billionaire who just moved to Hawaii, so the president of the United States agreed that there should be a queen of Swellview", she said
"OMG that is so cool", I said
"What ages are required in order for you to run as queen?", I said
"You gotta be at least 13 or over", she said
"Well, we are 14 years old", I said
"Well you should run", she said
"I don't know, what about you?", I said
"I rather go to college, get a job, get married, and look after my children besides looking after a whole city", she said
"Fair enough", I said
"You have to run, opportunities like this only come once in a lifetime", she said
"Well, I could make new laws, and help people in oir community, so what the heck", I said
"That's my bud", said Char
I went over to sign up for my chance of becoming queen, after I did that I went over to Charlotte
"There are alot of people here who cane to sign up", I said
"I know right?", she said
"That's no fair, how come a queen has to be chosen besides a king!", yelled Sidney
"Sidney calm down", said Oliver
"No way man", said Sidney
Then the president came along with some of his staff members who came to collect the sign up sheets
"Mr. President sir?!", Sidney called out
"Yes young man", said the president
"Why can't their be anyone running for king besides queen?", he said
"Well there are alot of women in history, yet there is alot more history about men then women, so afew states voted for there to be either a king or a queen of Swellview", he said
I hid my face away from the president because it has been a year since I ran away, and so far that story hasn't gotten to Swellview yet so, no wonder why they need a ruler
"Well that's not fair, I protest", he said
"Sidney, calm down, here eat a bug", said Oliver
"No way man, I'm too mad to eat bugs right now", said Sidney
"Security", the president said
His guard's escorted him and Oliver somewhere
"Were are you taking them?", said Charlotte
"That information is classified, but I can tell you that we will take them somewhere to get help, eating bugs, gross!", said the president leaving our school with the list
I went to my locker to get the stuff I need for my first class for today
Then I saw Henry walking up to me, I really love the way his eyes sparkle, the way he smiles, and the way he pushes his hair back
"Emma", Henry called out
"Hey Hen", I said
"Emma, I need to tell you something really important", he said
Before I could let him speak I looked at my watch and saw that I only have one minute before class starts
"Uh, Henry I would love to hear what you have to tell me but I only have one minute before first period, I'm so sorry, but maybe some other time?", I said while running to class
~At lunch~
I was sitting with Charlotte, and while I was eating the announcement's said that all participants who are running for queen are to meet up at Swellview city hall after school
"So how long will the compotition last?", I said to Charlotte
"About, 7 or 8 weeks", she said
"Oh, and how many days of the week do we have to visit?", I said
"3 days a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Friday is when the results come up for who will be in the next round and who will be eliminated, if there are more people, then there will be extra weeks, if less, then below seven, hopefully", said Charlotte
"How do you know all this?", I said
"It's written on the election website, girls on this website are still signing up for it", she said showing me her phone
"How many signed up?", I said
"About, 39,687 women have signed up", she said
"Oh my God I have a tough compotition compete going on", I said
"Well, you know what they say, when the going gets tough, the tough get going", she said
"You're right, oh maybe that could be our new motto, even though we never had one", I said
"Emma if you really want to win so badly maybe afew friends of mine can help you", she said
"I thought your only friends were Henry and Jasper?", I said
"Well I have other friends, and we can help you", she said
"Alright", I said
