Deleted Scene No. 10: Chapter Sixty-Six: March Twenty-First (Part One)

"Something is definitely up with those two..." Robyn leaned over to me and whispered, gesturing at Marley and Micha who were being abnormally awkward.

We were sitting as usual in our nook at school, waiting for the day to begin. All was well with the world, except Hazel decided to take a raincheck. And that left me staring at the hallway, waiting for her to make an appearance.

"Mhm..." I hummed boredly. Where did Hazel run off to this time?

I checked my phone. Maybe she'd sent me something- maybe a heads up? Like 'hi, I'm not dead' or 'I'll be late' just not nothing...

And nothing.

Where is she?!

"Do you know where Hazel is?" Robyn noticed my fidgeting and the absence of my girlfriend.

"No..." In a last-ditch attempt to get Hazel to contact me, I shot her a message.

Me: You're missing again... You okay?

Surprisingly, she responded almost immediately.

Hazel: Yes. I was pulled over and my drive was delayed. I will be there in a few minutes.

I sighed deeply.

Me: What did you get pulled over for?

Hazel: I'm thirteen, Grace. I don't look like a legal driver.

I chuckled in my throat.

Me: You do.
