Chapter 8: We Find and Lose the Key of Light

****Chapter 8*****

"I still can't believe that worked," Holly moaned.

The baby dragon slept curled in a ball under the tree next to us. We had to carry him away from the city, and that dragon was not very light.

"What's his name?" I asked.

"His name is Pledge. And, he sure does look cute when he's sleeping."

"Yeah, almost getting killed is very tiring. We should know by now."

Suddenly Pledge woke up. "Where am I? Who are you people? What are you doing?"

"You're right outside of Dragon City," Feather said, "We are two kids and a moon ferret who-"

"Are you from the moon?!"

"NO! Why does everyone always ask that? Anyway, we're trying to find the Key of Light and save the world."

"And where is this 'Key of Light'?"

"Somewhere deep underground surrounded by magma."

"You mean in a volcano?"

"Ok, how did we not think of that?" I asked.

"Obviously because we're all idiots," Holly mumbled.

"And how many volcanoes are there in Silvan?"

"Only... There's only one."

"Well that was easy," I said.

"Only problem is that to get there we have to go through a city."

"Great," Holly moaned.

"The volcano's name is Linofk. It is Silvan's only volcano, and it's believed to be extinct. So, people decided to build a giant city under it."

"That's so safe. And what if it isn't extinct?"

"Then several hundred people would die. Nothing big."

"I thought we were trying to save a world where all the humans weren't dead."

"We are... But that's kind of hard when they all want us dead."

"Yeah. By now the bounties on our heads are probably so big that every bounty hunter in the world is after us," Feather mumbled.

"And I'm afraid that Flower may have figured out that I'm a Silvanian." I said.

"Nah. Don't worry. There's no way he knows."

"Maybe. But I've got a feeling that things might get ugly."

Pledge nodded. "And we better get going. If we rest too long, then Penticalala might catch us."

I blinked. "You're only a baby, and yet... I can hardly believe that you've caught on to our language do fast. Only probably a month in your life has passed, and it's as though your ancient."

Pledge smiled. "Then let's do this. I've got absolutely no idea what's happening right now, but I'll help you save the world."

We all nodded. We had started walking again to the City Under the Volcano.

Penticalala looked around. Up in the sky, he could see all. Nothing could hide from him, not even those pathetic underlings or the good dragon. To him it was as though there was a giant glowing arrow pointing to where they were. They were very bad at this hiding game.

He could have simply swooped down and killed them. All the same, he decided against it. Plus, Flower wanted his brother alive. Not the dragon, though.
