The One

I need to speak to Nath

When I woke up the sun was streaming in through the window. I rolled over and looked at the clock, 2:41pm it read. I yawned and stretched out, feeling relieved after a good few hours sleep and climbed out of bed, wrapping my dressing gown around me. I slipped on my socks that I had put on briefly last night and headed back downstairs where my auntie was sitting at the table making sketches.

"Morning" I smiled, "Morning hunny, sleep well?" She asked, "Yeah fine thanks" I smiled, "Want some tea?" I offered, "Yes please" She smiled, I nodded and flicked the kettle on. I grabbed two mugs from the cupboard and placed them down on the unit, plopping a tea bag into each. "You don't take sugar do you?" I asked, "No thank you" She answered. I put one sugar into my cup and poured in the now boiling water and then a splash of milk into each.

I took the teas over and sat at the table opposite my auntie, placing her tea in front of her. "Thanks sweetie. Here, help me with this would you" She said as she turned her notebook round to face me which had four similar designs drawn onto a double page spread. "Which one do you think is best?" She asked, "I like this one" I said pointing to the design at the bottom right of the page. It was a dress that came to about mid-thigh and the way it is shaped makes it look like it is pinned up at the side and it stuck on with a rose. "What colour do you think it should be?" She asked, "What about a deep purple colour?" I asked, "Perfect" She grinned and made note.

She then packed away all of here things and put them at the end of the table. "Beth is everything okay?" She asked me, "Yeah why?" I asked, "I heard you crying last night. I was going to come in but I thought you would need some space. And I noticed your puffy eyes and the tear stains on your cheeks when I found you asleep here this morning" She sighed, "Okay... Well for starters, the reason I got you to pick me up from the bus stop the other day was because I snapped at the girls that morning and stormed out. I also left my phone in my suitcase all day so none of them could get hold of me and they got really worried and I felt awful. Then I also got messages from Nathan and the other boys which made me feel even worse that everyone was worrying about me and the fact that they were worrying about me after what I did to them. So all that upset me but then" I paused as a tear ran down my cheek. Sharon came round and sat beside me, pulling her chair close and wrapping her arms around me for support, "Well, as I was listening to my voicemails there was one from Dionne" I said. "Look" Sharon said, putting her hands on my shoulders and holding me at arms length, "That girl is vile and repulsive and needs a good kick up the arse. Now what you're going to do is turn your phone off and put it away and stay with me for the week, forget about everything and clear your head. Your pregnancy hormones will be making everything worse so you just need to relax till you get used to the hormones and they calm down" She said, "Thank you" I smiled, "Your welcome hunny. Now switched that phone off and bring your duvet down, we're having a girly movie night" She grinned.

I went upstairs and switched my phone off, slipping it back into my suitcase before grabbing my duvet and heading downstairs where Sharon was sat in her duvet with a pile of popcorn, crisps and sweets.

"We're watching Dirty Dancing and then The Notebook, okay?" Sharon said as I plopped down on the sofa next to her, "I love them films!" I gushed, "Good" Sharon grinned and pressed play on the remote.

Dirty Dancing finished and we had already eaten most of the food and were laughing so hard after Sharon started a running commentary which was hilarious. "You've ruined that film for me!" I said as Sharon switched It over to The Notebook. "My version was much better!" She grinned. "Yeah, Yeah, whatever" I giggled and rolled my eyes.

We watched through The Notebook without a commentary this time but instead started crying our eyes out. "It's so sad!" I cried, "Why can't they just have an easy relationship?" Sharon cried back, "Why can't her parents just be happy for her?" I cried again, "And why do his parents have to die?" Sharon cried back, "Why do THEY have to die?!" I cried and we just laughed at each other through our tears. "We're such losers" I laughed and rubbed away the tears, "Well I don't know about you but I'm cool" Sharon answered and pulled some face that made her look constipated, "Oh wow" I laughed at her and we both started laughing again.

1 week later

"Thank you for such an amazing week" I smiled over at my auntie from the passenger side of the car, "No problem hunny. I hope it helped" She smiled back.

We were in the car driving back home from my time away. I stayed longer than a week in the end and ended up spending about a month away just to spend some time forgetting about everything rather than just staying a week and I haven't yet told anyone that I'm coming home.

"Now don't be a stranger okay?" Sharon said as I got my bags out of the boot, "I wont, and feel free to pop down again whenever you've got time off" I smiled, "Will do hunny. Bye bye!" She called, "Bye" I waved as she drove off.

I sighed and made my way up the path towards the house and dug out my keys from my bag, pushing the door open and dragging in my bags. "Hello?" I heard Laura call, "It's me!" I called back. They was a pause before four sets of foot steps came pounding down the stairs and the girls came running over, crashing into me. "Whoa whoa whoa" I said, "Oops sorry" Alex giggled and they all stepped back, "We're so happy to see you!" Laura grinned, "I'm happy to see you girls too" I grinned back. "And check this out" I winked and lifted my t-shirt slightly to show of me slight baby bump. "Oh my god that's adorable! How far along are you now?" Taylor asked, "Just over two months" I grinned. "That reminds me, I need to speak to Nath.".
