Chapter 28
[Marie's POV]
"I told you -"
"Shhh!" I throw Ethan a very harsh glare. "I d-d-don't wa-ant t-t-to here i-it." I stutter through my chattering teeth since that's the only thing I can do at the moment.
Ethan raises an amused blond eyebrow. He opens his mouth to speak but I shush him again. He shakes his head, relenting. A silence welcomes the air as he kneels next to the tub. I stare at him as he stares at me. Even in my near hypothermic state I can't help but feel the usual warmth and comfort deep inside me that comes along with loving this man. Too bad he's not mine.
Suddenly, Ethan reaches his hand to cup my cheek. His wet yet warm palm making me shiver. I force myself not to turn into his touch. "But seriously, though. You shouldn't have left." His eyes turn from amused to worried in a matter of seconds.
I search his face. "I kn-now. S-sorry."
He seems surprised and to be honest, so am I.
"Clothes." I blurt trying to change the subject.
He hesitates, but slowly removes his hand from my face. "Right." Before leaving me to cuddle in the bathtub full of warm water Ethan bends down to place a feather like kiss on my forehead. I don't have time to even process what he does and before I know it I'm staring his retreating back as he walks into his joined bedroom.
I sink further into the water, getting more than half of my hair wet which I could care less about right now. I'll braid it up so it won't get too much of a mess.
"I only have pajama pants and a oversized tee. I'll be downstairs, come when you're ready." And with that he's MIA.
I blow out a heavy sigh and start to undress in the tub.
So, turns out there's a blizzard.
Who knew.
Ethan apparently.
Anyway, I almost made it to a bus stop just a couple blocks away when the storm went into action. It was when I saw the approaching bus suddenly shut off and skid to a stop in front of me that I immediately retreated back to Man-boy's town home. The wind and snow and hail were beating away at my skin and I could barely see as I made my way there. Honestly, I think I would've been swept away like a little haystack like in a old Clint Eastwood western film if Ethan hadn't snatched me up and ran us both to safety. I was a shivering mess. I'm surprised I didn't chew a whole through my tongue by how much I was shivering. But everything got much warmer once Ethan settled me into a tub almost filled to the brim with lukewarm water clothed.
Now, thirty minutes later, I still sit comfortably in the exact tub. Well, no that's a lie. Now I'm semi-naked. I hop out and quickly wrap a towel around me when I have all my wet clothes off. I don't waist time as I quickly dry off and slip the pants and shirt on. I look at myself and wince.
My dark and usually straight hair is now a mini-curly afro due to the humidity of the tub and the snowflakes that later turned into water. It'd actually look cute if I didn't have such a small head.
Another round of chills rakes through my body. Deciding that warmth was better than looking cute, I sped into the room and snatched the comforter straight off of it. I wrap it around my body as I make my way downstairs.
"Ethan?" I call once I see that he's not in the living room.
"Kitchen." His baritone of a voice echoes through these vast rooms.
