Nervous butterflies erupt within me as I make my way to the Beet to see Ethan. My boyfriend.

Huh, it's so weird yet so freakin' relieving to be able to actually say that. I want to yell it to the top of my lungs, but being looked at sideways by total strangers was something I definitely did not feel like dealing with. Especially since it would totally ruin my mood.

I casually walk around the many students and faculty, bobbing and weaving all the frat guys who are, not so secretly, checking my ass out. Ignoring that degrading yet somehow flattering fact, I turn a sharp right to the dorms.

I see the person just before running into them. "Shit." The boy mutters at the same time I screech, "Fuck." His arms quickly find their way to my shoulders, steadying me so I don't fall.

I'm disoriented only for a few moments before I focus on the boy-no, man before me. A slow grin forms on his plump lips. Lips I'd been all too familiar with not too long ago. "Hey there." Donovan says, squeezing my shoulders.

I stare blankly at him for a moment before warmth spreads across my cheeks. For no apparent reason, I start to nervously laugh. I tighten my grip on the shoulder strap of my book bag and take a discreet, but not really, step away from him. All the while I'm laughing like a platypus in heat.

Stop. Stop it right now.

I slowly let the laughter die in my throat.

And now we're staring at each other...

Shoot. Me. Now.

Donovan places his hands in his pockets, looking down at her with warm eyes. "So, how are you?"

I go for the suave persona. "Good." I shrug. "You?"

"Good." He nods once, looks her up and down then licks his lips nervously.

Oh boy. Here goes the rejection speech. Taking one large internal breath, she says, "Donovan we can't-"

"Is it okay if we talk upstairs?" He interrupts her, nudging his head towards the dorm building. Her dorm building.

She hesitates. "Um–" nothing's gonna happen so why not? "Sure, let's go."

We make our way to the entrance of my dorm hall, and through the building quickly and in peaceful silence. I greet our RA with a genuine smile before rushing up the stairs to my dorm, Donovan hot on my heels. His presence is close once I stop in front of my room. I reach in my back pocket to retrieve my key and slide it into the door, opening it.

I look back over my shoulder as I push the door open. "Come on in." I encourage, friendliness seeping from my words.

Donovan smirks, shaking his head, "You got it bad don't you?" He steps forward and closes the door behind him before I can even register what he'd said.

With a quirked eyebrow, I drops my book bag from my shoulder and sits on the edge of my bed. "Got what bad?"

Donovan slowly crosses the room to peer out the window overlooking the parking lot. "Samuels." He turns his attention to me. "You two together now?" He comes to sit next to me, bending his leg so his ankle rests under his other knee.

A heat like no other zipped right through my body, "How'd you-"

"It's obvious." He chuckles, not heart broken over it at all.

Although very relieved that I don't have to let this poor guy down, I can't help but think something's off. "Yeah we are, but it's nothing serious." I say only to make the rejection less so. But, he looks as though he couldn't' E been more happier.
