what i'll tell you when you die

i would cry for you
beg for you
scream for your attention
it never worked
so when you died
when you dark heart stopped
for once i was the child who didn't cry
not for you
i cried for my brother who lost his father
for my grandmother who lost her son
but for you...
i didn't shed a tear
i don't miss you
i try to think of times i loved you
but i can't remember one
it was always mothers arms
her soothing voice
thinking back i didn't cry for you...
nor beg...
or scream...
i was crying...
begging...
screaming...
for a dad
something you could never be
so when you died
when your dark heart stopped
for once I was the child who didn't cry
