Chapter 5

I heard some banging on my door and I groggily opened my eyes. My vision was still slightly blurry as I took in my surroundings. I looked to my door to my bedroom which was slightly cracked open. I saw my mum’s head peaking round the door.

“Merry Christmas sweetie,” My mum spoke.

I sat up in my bed and smiled at her.

“Merry Christmas mum,” I smiled back.

“See you down stairs in a few,” She smiled, before leaving the room and pulling the door to.

Today was Christmas and three days before I would leave for the mating ball. I climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom. I quickly brushed my teeth and washed my face. I quickly sat down at my dressing table and smiled at my special Christmas onesie. I smiled before brushing through my hair and letting it fall naturally down my back.

It was currently 9 o’clock in the morning and it was time to open all of the presents. I walked down stairs and into the living room. I smiled at the huge tree in front of the window which had lights which were green and red. There was a beautiful angel placed on top of the tree and under the tree were all of the presents. Along the ceiling was tinsel which we hung four one from each corner of the room and into the middle. It looked beautiful. I could faintly make out the faint snowflakes which began to fall onto the ground.

My parents were sat down on the floor on either side of the tree. They both looked up at me and smiled. I smiled back. I loved this day. Just me and my family. I loved it. I sat down in the middle of them both.

“Merry Christmas darling,” My dad smiled at me.

                “You too dad,” I replied.

My dad passed me a present. It was wrapped in some dark pink paper wrapped in a golden coloured ribbon. I slowly pulled open the wrapping paper and it revealed a black box. I opened it and inside was this golden locket. I opened it and inside was this picture of the three of us. I smiled looking at the locket.

“Thank you so much,” I said, hugging my mum and my dad.

I then gave my dad his present which was the new PS4 and some games for it. My dad was a bit of a gamin nerd.

“You know me too well,” My dad laughed.

I smiled. Now it was time for my mum’s present. I would be leaving home in three days. I would be moving into the home of my mate and as I was an only child my mum would be a little lost without something to care for.

“Right mum, I need to go get your present from a different room,” I explained.

This room was the garage. I had kept it locked up for the past three days so my mum couldn’t get into the room. I unlocked it and walked in. I went to the corner where there was a cushion on the floor with a water bowl and food bowl next to it. I looked at the sleeping figure of a gorgeous little Shih Tzu. It was a tan and white colour and was only a puppy. He was gorgeous. This was my mum’s present. The dog began to stir from its sleep noticing me for the first time. It’s little tail began to wag happily as it ran over to me.

If you were wondering how I kept it quiet for three days, I spent every day in the garage or taking the dog into the woods so my mum wouldn’t know. I lifted the small puppy into my hands and stroked just behind it’s ears.
