Chapter 33

I climbed out of the car throwing the cloak around as I did so. It came all the way down to my feet. I untucked all of the curls from inside the cloak letting it fall loosely down my back. I leaned in and unbuckled my still fast asleep little boy. I noticed he was a heavy sleeper which I was glad considering the shouting from the people inside was about to become.

Underneath my cloak I was wearing some black skinny jeans with some flats and a white flowing blouse. Both of my rings were on my fingers, I had barely taken them off and my necklace from my parents was on as well.

I cradled my son in my arms before covering him with the cloak. I looked over at the protectors and Ali. I smiled lightly. I looked around but it was strangely quiet. I realised they were having a post war meeting in the main ball room. I let out a sigh. This was going to be interesting.

“Right. Ali I want you next to me. The rest of you I want around me. Some people will be angry with me and they have every right to be,” I spoke.

They nodded and got into position. We began to walk up to the door. Mitch and Lewis were at the front and pushed open the huge doors. There were a few guards in the entrance who jumped to attention. They growled before sensing who it was. Their mouths dropped open but let us pass. I was partly concealed by the guys which was my plan.

We walked through the huge entrance until we came to the two huge doors ready for the ballroom. I had gotten married here. I had been made Queen here. Yet, now I felt like the enemy. It was all going to kick off as soon as we stepped through the door. I took a deep breath and nodded to the lads who swung the two doors open.

The room was packed. It was full of people. They turned around to the sound of the doors opening and they saw my protectors, they caught a glimpse of myself. They separated creating an aisle in which we could walk down towards Oliver who was now staring at us. His face was unreadable.

I nearly gasped in shock. Oliver had deep bags under his eyes and his eyes had lost their shine. He looked like a worn and tired man. He was hurting and I could see that. Just behind him were my parents, Xavier and Susanna and all of the advisors. I wanted to throw myself into his arms.

I heard the whispering as talk began to ripple through the room. I could hear the accusations begin to spread through the room. This was what I was dreading. This was what I was so nervous for. They hated me. They thought I betrayed them.

We continued walking down the aisle slowly but surely. I rocked my baby son ever slow slightly just to keep him asleep. I am surprised no one picked up his beautiful scent of oranges and passion fruit with even the hint of the woods in there. I was already addicted.

I heard Ali gasp beside me and turned and saw Matt who looked the same as Oliver. He was worn and tired.

Ali, go to your mate. He needs you.
