~~~Birayn's P.O.V.~~~
"For a 'tough' guy, R doesn't really show it." I comment, sneaking up to the mansion. Kazi nods, agreeing with me. "I say we just walk in." I declare. Kazi gives me the 'are you crazy?' look, but indicates for me to go ahead anyway, saying ladies first. "Thanks." I smile sarcastically and push the door open. Not sensing anyone in the immediate area, I signal for the rest to follow and walk farther in. "Can you sense anything?" I ask Kazi through the link. Every since his mark healed we've been able to share thoughts.
"Yeah, a cat. And I don't mean Nala." He says, right before a red head bumps into him.
"Candice!?"
"Uh, hey." She licks her lips. A guy holding a little girl stands beside her.
"Who are they, Candice?" His eyes scan over us.
"They," a man comes from the hallway, "are here to get the baby, and they brought the angel right through my front door." He smiles. "Want to see your sister Birayn?" R raises a brow. I growl. "Don't bother with that. Nothing can scare me from protecting my wife." He states. "Tell B to bring the baby." He comands the guard behind him. "Have a seat." He gestures to the couches. We causiously sit and he turns to Candice and the other guy. "Trey, did you know that your mate works for the cat King?" The guy with the kid looks at Candice.
"I meant to tell you, when I got to your room." Candice says, eyes pleading with him.
A grin cuts his face in half and Candice sighs with relief. "Oh yeah, Jade. Mommy's staying. That's for sure." The girl in his arms squeals and jumps to Candice. Her eyes glance our way and she laughs at everybodys gawking faces. "Dad, I'm taking my mate and daughter to dinner. Tell B not to worry about us." Trey wraps his arm around Candice and leads her out the house.
"Well," Nala cuts the stunned silence, "I think she'll be happy." Most of us chuckle while Samael fights a smile.
"Don't worry. I got her."
"I was told to bring her, Lewis."
"B, it's fine." Voices drift from the hall. Two figures appear in the archway, Liylah in the mans arms. I jump from the couch and run over to them.
"She's gotten so big." I whisper, caressing her chubby cheek. I pick her up and just hug her to me, letting the tears fall. "Thank you for not hurting her." I look at Lewis. He nods and suddenly his face whips to the side from a smack.
"I hate that you did this for stupid money." Amanda scowls at him. "And if you don't leave right now, I will never talk to you and you will never see your grandchildren." She points to the door. Axel chuckles, slipping his arms about her waist. Lewis's eyes zone in on the arms caging his daughter. "This is Axel. He's a vampire and I'm his mate. If you ever want to see our kids, you will leave with us." Amanda warns. Lewis turns to the woman he entered with, who looks freakishly like Nala. Her face reads 'don't look at me, solve your own issues.' Lewis spins back to Amanda and nods. She smiles, then shoves him out the door after he kisses Liylah's cheek and yells. "Bye Bri!"
"Mom?" Nala whispers, staring at Bri. Kazi whips around and freezes, eyes wide.
"Guards." R's fingers snap and all sorts of creatures rush in and corral us. "I'm sorry, but to save my wife, I need the blood of an angel and powerful bird."
"No!" Nala screams and tries to reach for Bri, but a shifter stops her. Then instantly releases her, shouting in pain.
"Samael, please don't interfere. It's useless." R states.
With a blank face, Samael grabs Nala's arm and smashes her mouth to his. It doesn't even last ten seconds, however it's eleven seconds too long for Kazi. In a flash, Kazi has Samael in a death hold, glaring daggers.
"Let, him, go."
My gaze flies to the deadly voice and I gasp, seeing wings attached to Nala. She has a look of high dislike while glowering at her brother. "Kazi, release him." Bri says, placing her hand on his arm. "I think this man is for Nala, what your father was for me. A solid form. Right now, all Nala sees is blurry, shaky shapes. You attacking the only thing clear for her, is a huge mistake." Kazi glances around, eyes landing at his sister and removes his fingers from Samael. "I am slightly confuse-" Bri haults. "Oh you brilliant man!" She kisses Samael's cheek. "Why didn't I think of it? It's pure genius!" She exclaims all giddy.
"I'm not the only one confused, right?" I ask.
Kazi shakes his head. "Mom, what are you talking about?" He holds her shoulders.
Bri grins at him. "He just fully awakened your sister." Our brows crease. "Okay, let me explain slowly. Nala, is an angel. Samael, is The Grim Reaper. They are polar opposites. If they connect physically, it's like Halogens and Alkali, the reaction is remarkable." She stops when Samael moves closer to Nala.
"Nala," he takes her hand, "you don't have to do anything, that you don't feel is right, okay?" She nods. Samael glances at Kazi. "It may have only been a short time, but I know," he pulls Nala closer, "my feelings for this angel, aren't temporary."
