Chapter 7

  A week later everything seemed to change, instead of Callie hanging out and talking to Brandon she spent most of her free time with Wyatt and Mariana and Callie became more distant since Callie refused to open up to anyone anymore. " Brandon," Mariana said knocking and coming into Brandon's room. Brandon looked over towards Mariana and sat up," Yeah,  what's up?" " Have you noticed how distant Callie has been lately with everyone other than Wyatt," Mariana stated trying to see if the person she considered her best friend would know the answer. Brandon shrugged his shoulders and said," I don't know, I haven't really payed attention to Callie." Mariana shook her head and said," Yes you have. When you first came here you two opened up to each other and now you barely acknowledge each other's existence." Brandon was surprised by how much Mariana payed attention but he didn't want to get into this conversation with her so he said," Yeah well people change." " Not Callie. She didn't start changing until you showed up and at first it was for the better but now-," Mariana cut herself off because she felt tears brimming her eyes. Brandon sighed and said," I will talk to her. Okay?" Mariana nodded and for the first time she gave Brandon a hug. Brandon hugged back and Mariana said," Thank you Brandon. You're a great brother." When Mariana pulled away Brandon asked," You think of me as a brother?" " Well yeah, do you think of me as your sister," Mariana asked hoping the answer was yes. Brandon nodded and said," Yes but  me and Jude are only here temporarily." " I know but no matter what I will always see you as a brother," Mariana said causing Brandon to smile. Later on that day Callie and Wyatt were sitting on the grass in Wyatt's back yard kissing when Callie's phone started ringing. " Who is that," Wyatt asked when she pulled out her phone. Callie sighed and replied," Brandon." Wyatt wasn't too thrilled with Brandon, although Callie said there was nothing going on between the two he wouldn't stop seeing Brandon as a threat," Oh." Callie answered the phone with," Hey Brandon." " Hey I wanted to let you know that dinner is in about an hour so you should come home soon," Brandon informed her on the only reason that he could come up with so that he could talk to her without Wyatt around. Callie looked at Wyatt and answered," Okay I will be home in about 30 minutes. Does that work for you?" Brandon was a bit offended by her rude remark after her answer but he ignored it and said," Okay see you soon." " Bye," Callie said while hanging up her phone. " Brandon wants you home," Wyatt asked slightly irritated. Callie nodded and said," Yeah for dinner." Wyatt didn't respond he just looked down at the grass. " Hey I am not leaving right now," Callie said turning Wyatt's head to face her. Wyatt nodded and Callie brought her lips to his. After dinner Callie was about to go into her and Mariana's room but Brandon stopped her by saying," Hey could we talk?" Callie turned around and said," Sure." Brandon walked over towards his room and Callie followed. " What do you want to talk to me about," Callie said after her and Brandon entered his room. Brandon shut the door and responded," What is up with you lately? You don't talk to me anymore and you are just so distant with everyone except Wyatt." Callie looked down and said," I am doing what is best for us." Brandon shook his head and said," That isn't your decision Callie. You should have talked to me." " Brandon what is there to talk about," Callie asked trying to see where this was going. Brandon stepped closer to her and said," I don't know Callie but I do know that every day you are with Wyatt you are lying to him-," Brandon was soon cut off by Callie saying," Don't tell me that I am lying to my boyfriend. You don't even know if that kiss meant anything between us Brandon. God you are so irritating!" Brandon wasn't sure how to respond because he thought she was overreacting. " Fine. I am sorry that you ever took pity on the trashy foster kid and made the biggest mistake of you life by kissing him," Brandon said trying to hide that he was hurting. Callie felt bad and she knew that she was lying to herself when she said that the kiss didn't mean anything but she didn't say anything she just walked out of the room. The next day Callie was going to meet up with Wyatt at the beach. When she arrived there Wyatt was waiting by the life guard tower. She walked up to him and gave him a hug and said," Hey." " Hi, how are you," Wyatt asked trying to make conversation. Callie sat down on the sand and so did Wyatt and she responded," I have been better." Wyatt looked towards Callie directly and asked," Why." Callie sighed and said," Me and Brandon had a fight last night." " What about," Wyatt asked wanting to know if he needed his attention brought to this. Callie sighed and said," I am sorry Wyatt." Wyatt repositioned himself so that he was sitting more straight and he sighed and said," I think I know what it was about." Callie looked at the ocean trying to avoid eye contact," You love Brandon," Wyatt continued," And he feels the same way." Callie bit the inside of her lip and nodded her head. Wyatt was shocked by how well he was taking this but overall he kind of expected," I think I should go." With that he stood up and Callie didn't do anything she just sat there fearing for what comes next. Callie didn't know what to do, she knew she couldn't talk to any of her siblings about this and the one person she could talk to probably hated her. Callie sat there for about ten minutes then finally decided on calling her dad to pick her up because she didn't want to go home. When Mike arrived it took Callie a few minutes to notice him because she was so lost in thought. Once she got in she said," Thanks for getting me." " Sure Cal but why did you want me to come get you," Mike asked while starting the car. Callie looked down at her hands and said," I just don't want to deal with everyone." Mike nodded and drove away from the beach. " Do you want to have dinner at my place," Mike asked while parking his car in the closest parking spot to his apartment. Callie shook her head and said," No thanks I will just hang out here for a little bit. I need to clear my head." Callie went to open her door but Mike locked it and said," No I want to know what happened and why you look so down?" Callie sighed and slouched back in her seat and said," Me and Wyatt kind of broke up." Mike put his hand on Callie's shoulder and said sympathetically," I am sorry Cal." Callie nodded then reached over and unlocked her door and got out. When Callie came home everyone in the house was already eating dinner. Callie walked into the kitchen and Stef said," Callie there you are. Why did you go to your dad's for most of the day instead of hanging out with Wyatt like you said you would?" Callie looked at her mom then at Brandon and said while making full eye contact with him," Me and Wyatt broke up." Mariana's mouth dropped and she said," Why? You two were happy together. Weren't you?" Callie sighed and looked down and said," I don't know anymore I just want to go to bed. Please." Lena looked at Stef and then to Callie and answered," Sure sweetheart." The next day Jesus and Jude where playing video games while Brandon sat next to Jude and told him pointers on how to beat Jesus. " Okay press this button... Now," Brandon said while pointing towards a button on the controller. Jude pressed it and once again beat Jesus. Jesus sat his controller down and said to Brandon," Okay you play because you obviously are better than me." Brandon chuckled and so did Jesus. In the midst of the boys laughing and having fun Callie came down and cleared her throat. The there stopped and looked at Callie and she said," Brandon can I talk to you." Jude looked at Brandon to see his response. Brandon looked at Jude then Jesus and finally at Callie and mumbled," Sure." He stood up and said to Jude," You two continue without me, I will be back in a minute." Jude nodded and Brandon smiled at him. Callie and Brandon went upstairs into her room. Luckily Mariana was out shopping at the mall with her friend Lexi. " What do you want," Brandon said a little irritated while Callie shut her door. Callie turned around and said," Me and Wyatt broke up because I have feelings for you. I know the other night I implied that the kiss meant nothing but I was just trying to lie in effort of making myself believe it." Brandon looked relieved and he said," I am so glad you feel the same way then." Callie smiled and said," Of coarse I feel the same way." With that Callie kissed Brandon feeling sparks as they kissed. Brandon couldn't believe how Callie made him feel, she made him feel loved and truly happy and safe and he never wanted that feeling to end. They continued kissing for a few seconds each of them cherishing the moment. Brandon pulled away and said," Where do we go from here?" Callie smiled and said," I don't know but I do know is I am happy right now." " I feel the same way," Brandon said with a huge smile on his face.
