This chapter is dedicated to pistachiocookie for an awesome cover! She made two, the other one will be in the next chapter.
I slammed his phone down the table. Well, the fact that he lied to me was painful than his phone getting broken. Gathering up my things, I rose from my seat.
"Excuse me, miss. You and your boyfriend ordered strawberry cheesecake. Would you mind waiting fir-" said the girl who entertained us since we got inside this shop.
"If you're worried about who's paying it, he got it covered. Don't worry, he's just in the bathroom," I explained, sarcastically. Well, I'm in no mood to play okay because I'm not.
"I understand if you have an argument with your boyfriend. But maybe you can wait, miss."
I understand that it's their job to make the customers feel okay. But it's non of their business to get involved with someone's arguments.
I glared at her, enough to make her feel scared.
"He is not my boyfriend," I warned, and was ready to leave out of the shop when Chuck saw me.
"Lauren, where are you going?"
"Thanks for being a liar," I muttered under my breath, just enough for him to hear.
"What?" he asked, raising his two arms as if he doesn't have any idea of the whole scene.
I ignored him and walked out.
"Wait! Wait, keep the change!" I could hear him say to the barista.
I walked as fast as I can to get out of the shop before I explode. I don't want to shout at him in front of these people and create a scandal. I've never done one in my entire life. Not even when someone broke up with me years ago.
"Hey, Lauren! Wait!"
As I was walking on the street, I kept my mouth shut and my mind and ears closed as if nothing really happened. Now, I can't hear him calling. Well, it's a good thing he's not chasing after me. I wanted him to go away. I never wanted to see his face.
Why does everyone make themselves a big liar? Is it even hard to tell the truth?
"Lauren, what's wrong?" he called, rolling down the window of his car while looking at me and at the road simultaneously.
I continued walking, ignoring him.
"Listen, Lauren. We can talk about it. Just get in the car, okay?"
Stopping at my tracks, I gave him a dreadful stare.
"Get out of the car and explain everything."
"Okay, fine," he answered, stopping the engine.
He got out of the car and walk towards me.
"Now, tell me."
"Do I really look like a very stupid person for you to fool me?" I yelled in front of his face, good thing there aren't any people passing by.
I'm just infuriated by the fact that he lied to me. I couldn't understand why he even did that to me. I wasn't a bad person to him. Do I deserve this, being played in my whole life?
"Make me understand, Lauren."
"You told me you didn't know Cain. Why do you have his number? Why is he calling you?!"
"Well, I'm sorry. Okay? I'm sorry."
"Why did you do that?" I asked, trying to stay calm and never meeting his eyes. Because if I did, I'd see his eyes and realize he is really sorry and that I'd easily forgive him.
