Kai POV

Both of us heard something drop at the vending machine. Someone must be there, I let go of Minny and walked around the corner. A bottle of iced tea, the one that Florence likes was lying on the floor. I pick it up and looked up in time to see a flash of golden brown hair running around the corner.

I felt my blood go cold. It can’t be. She can’t have heard the conversation.

“We should go. We’re already late. Think about it Kai. I miss Flo already.” Minny said besides me and walked away.

I followed her to the room a few minutes later. The teacher was not yet around. I looked around the room, my friends were goofing around, Minny was talking to Luhan. She was at our desk slumped over covering her face. She must be sleeping. She likes to sleep like me during classes, at least she knew all the answers, I did not.

 I walked to our desk and was tempted to rumple her hair. I imagined she would raise her head and glare at me with those electric blue eyes I like. She really doesn’t like when I mess her hair.

“Yo Flo. You okay?” Kris asked her. I glance at the boy and frown. He had taken the words right out of my mouth.

She did not answer but I can feel that she is upset. I wanted to ask what’s wrong but I remembered I was not talking to her. Why was I not talking to her again? I can’t remember anymore. I miss her voice, her laughter, the warm touch she gives me.

The teacher arrives and our lesson started. It was math, her favorite subject. She was still slumped over her desk not listening to the teacher. As expected the teacher calls her to answer a question.  She slowly raised her face. I was half expecting tears on her face since I can really feel that she is upset, but they were dry. Utterly dry and devoid of any emotion.  Her whole face is without any emotion.

She walks to the board and writes the correct answer without solving it. She went back besides me without saying anything.

“Ms. Khan! I asked you to answer the question.” The teacher said.

“That’s the answer teacher.” She answers flatly. The tone of her voice is also without any emotion. Something’s wrong.

“Brilliant use of the calculator Flo!” Beakhyun said saving her from telling why she instantly knows the answer.

“Ms. Khan on the exam I would like you to actually show me how you came up with the answer. Do you understand me young lady?” The teacher said to her sternly. At this time she would usually smile and charm the teacher but she just looked at the teacher blankly.

“Yes ma’am.” She answers. The teacher must have realized that it is not worth arguing over with. She turned around and went back to her lesson.

The rest of the afternoon passed by and I watch Flo reply coldly to all the people who talk to her. If she wasn’t talking she would be scribbling in her notebook complex numbers and signs that I think belong in a laboratory not in a notebook of a high school student. Again I was tempted to get the notebook and burn it. Someone might see it. Minny is also looking at her worriedly.

The dismissal bell rings and she fluidly stands, her bag already assembled. She faced Kris who looked worriedly at her.

“I can’t do today Kris. Some other time.” She said to Kris cryptically. They had plans for the afternoon?

“sure Flo. Are you okay?” Kris asked.

“I’m fine.” She answered and walked out of the room.
