Chapter 27

I woke up an hour ahead of my alarm which is amazing since I slept around 2pm; I got so engrossed in decoding what Ren had sent me. It was some data on some experiments and they seem to match Luhan and Kris.. I hope this is the break we need since I don’t like waiting so long for an experiment which involves my friends. I need to find out what is happening since I didn’t like what I saw in the blood test I ran.

I walk to the kitchen yawning, might as well make breakfast.

I was so engrossed in making pancakes that I didn’t hear the phone ringing.

“Hello?” I answered.

“What’s for breakfast?” Kai’s voice on the other line asked.

“I’m having pancakes.. how about you?” I answered uncertainly.

“Can I have some too? I’m on my way.” He answered and I can hear traffic in the background.

“Wait what? You’re coming here? You don’t need to.” I said.

“See you in five.” He said and ended the call. I stare at the phone confused and happy at the same time. I’m not expecting these morning visits to become an everyday occurrence. My heart is doing summersaults.

Get a grip on yourself Florence Jane. He’s nice to you because if you’re not well Minny gets worried and he doesn’t like it when Minny gets upset. The sane part of me said. I sigh, that part is right.

“Stupid Florence.” I murmured as I went to change.

The doorbell rang and I rushed to open it despite the sane me complaining. I opened it wide and Kai stood there in the morning light.

“Hey.” He greeted raising two coffee cups.

“Hi, are those from the bakery at the corner” I asked seeing the coffee cups.

“Yup, I know you like their coffee.” He answered grinning. Oh how can I avoid this boy, when he’s like so sweet. Dart biscuits.

“Okay, come in.” I said and turned to return to the kitchen. He followed.

“They smell nice and I know will taste great.” Kai said seeing the hot pancakes on the table.

“Thanks.” I answered smiling. “Help yourself Kai.” I said handing him a plate. He settled down and ate completely at ease while I, the owner of the apartment felt awkward.

“You know you don’t need to do these every day.” I said to him.

“I don’t mind, your along the way anyway and I get a free ride.” He answered.

“you just want to drive the R8.” I countered.

“I was hoping that will be today.”

“Nope. It’s too conspicuous. We’ll go to the rural country when we have time and all of you can drive to your heart’s content.”

“That sounds like a plan.” He answered grinning. My poor heart, I think it will burst out. I looked away.

“Go eat your pancakes.” I murmured.

He’s driving again today and he’s wearing the shades that are causing the female population to look our way. I shove the cap, his cap, lower to hide my frowning face. We stopped at a red light and the same car from yesterday stops besides us, only this time it was on my side. They were all calling him like fan girls, they must have waited for the Range Rover to pass and followed. My hand is itching to close the window but I didn’t. What’s the use?  I wanted to say to them. Somebody already owns his heart girls.
