"I still don't get this Valentine's Day shit." Dark said, helping me make paper hearts. "It's a holiday celebrating love." Dark shuddered. "Sounds pretty chintzy and disgusting." I gave him a look. "Are you just upset because you don't have a Valentine?" Dark snickered. "Not in the least. I just don't get it." "Well I don't have a Valentine either...it's no big deal, I don't care...I just like eating all the candy and decorating." "Food is always good." "Well, Valentine's Day brings out a lot of chocolates...candy hearts, all kinds of things. This is really your first Valentine's Day?" "Yeah. We don't celebrate this shit where I come from..." I nodded, continuing to cut paper hearts. "How many of these things do you need?" Dark asked, setting down the scissors to massage his fingers. "A lot." I said. "Well, isn't this a lot?" I hadn't realized how many hearts we had cut out. The whole table was covered with white, pink, and red hearts. "Alright, that's good enough." I said. "Now what?" he asked. "Now we decorate." "Decorate what?" "My apartment." I got out a roll of tape. "Start taping." I said. Dark sighed. "I have a better idea." He snapped his fingers and all at once the paper hearts turned into human hearts...complete with blood. I turned away, disgusted. "Wait, my bad. Hold on." he tried again. Each heart turned back to paper and attached itself to the wall. "That looks great." I said, admiring the work. "Good." he said, levitating next to me. "So that's it. Now we wait until tomorrow, the big day. The only thing I'm missing is a Valentine." Dark looked over at me. "Let me guess, that's why you invited me over?" I looked away sheepishly. "Alright, I'll tell the truth. There's this party-" "No way." "Oh come on, listen to me." "Nope. Parties are not my thing. Nothing personal." "There's this party I want to go to and you need a date to get in. I don't plan to stay long, I just haven't been out in a long time." I looked at him, begging him with my eyes. "God dammit. Fine. I'm not talking to anyone and I'm not doing anything though." We agreed on the terms. "See you tomorrow night." He tossed a look at me over his shoulder before disappearing. I went to bed with a spring in my step that night.

The next morning I woke up late. The cool morning breeze rippling the trees outside made me want to lay in bed a few extra moments. The only reason I got up is because there was a knock on the front door. I threw my blankets off and answered the door. It was Dark. "Hi." I said, inviting him in. "Hi. What time is this thing and what the hell am I supposed to wear?" I remembered I hadn't told him that. "6 and wear something nice, I dunno." He sighed. "What are you wearing?" he asked. I hadn't put much thought into it. "I have a few dresses to pick from...all of them are red and black." "So red and black for me then." he said. I shrugged. "Or you could wear white." "Very funny (y/n). If I did that the whole universe would implode on itself." That was probably true. To this day I had never seen him wear anything white. Not even something as benign as a pair of gloves. "Alright." he said, disappearing in front of my eyes. I spent the remainder of the day taking my hair up and down, trying to figure out what to wear and why...it'd been so long since I'd had a night out that I wasn't sure what was in anymore. I was disrupted by Dark at the door again. I opened it and was surprised by what I saw. He looked perfect. He wore a black and red suit and even bothered to bring me a red flower for my wrist. His hair was perfectly styled and he had that sexy 'absent' look in his eyes. "Let's get this over with." he said. "Grouch." I remarked, trying to finish getting ready. I brushed my hair and zipped my dress up, slipping into my black flats. "Do I look okay?" "You're not ugly (y/n), so why bother asking?" I laughed a bit. "I guess that's a compliment." I said. He grabbed my wrist and slipped the flower onto it. "Thank you, it's pretty..." I said, admiring it. "So where is this?" he asked. "Right across the street." I said, pointing. There was a small line forming. "Let's go." I said, slipping my arm into Dark's. I could tell he was less than thrilled about going out, especially into a crowd, but he was doing it for me and that meant something. We crossed the street, earning our fair share of looks from people. "Are your feet on the ground or are you levitating?" I asked through clenched teeth. Dark looked at me funny. "(Y/N), I'm walking. We're in public and I'm not stupid." he said. "I was just wondering. People are staring at us." "It's because we look better than 90 percent of the people here." he said, casually. I guessed so. By the time we reached our destination, the line was outrageous. "This is really what you want to do?" Dark asked, eyeballing the line which had probably at least an hour long wait. I began reconsidering. I watched others line up and noticed that everyone had one thing in common: they had brough someone with them just to get in. Nobody was staying together...in fact, it looked like the party was pretty mundane...like any other club on any other night. I looked over at Dark who still looked entirely unimpressed. "Fuck this." I said. "That's the spirit." he said, turning on his heels and walking away with me. We walked back to my place. Part of me felt bad for being all dressed up with no place to go. I wasted all day getting ready for a let down. I decided to light some of the Valentine's Day candles my mom sent me. The few in my bedroom were my favorite. I struggled to light a match. Dark came up from behind me and flicked a few flames from his fingers for me. "Thanks." I said. "Why are you all bummed out now?" he asked. "I just feel sort of bad for planning all of this just to have it blow up in my face." I could tell he didn't want me to feel bad. "Think of a number between 1 and 100 and if you guess it right, I'll think of something fun for us to do." "52!" I said. Dark laughed. "Wrong, but it doesn't matter. What would you have done while at that party thing?" he asked. "Probably danced...I used to go dancing a lot." Dark looked away. "I don't dance...but for you, just once I think I can manage. Just don't tell Mark." "Why?" I laughed. "Don't. Tell. Mark. I will never hear the end of it." I giggled as he extended a hand to me. The two of us danced for awhile in my room, narrowly avoiding each others' feet. As he held me close to him I started to feel a burning desire for my close friend. I looked up at him with a lustful gaze and he returned it, bringing me even closer to him. I rested my head in the crook of his neck and nipped at his collar bones in the process. He breathed a little moan before gently laying me across my bed. We both started undressing, looking at one another from time to time. Dark crawled on top of me, biting my neck and purring things into my ears, some of them in languages I can't understand. I wrapped my legs around his lower half. He forced himself in. At first, it hurt and I cringed. "You okay?" he asked. I nodded. "Fuck." I breathed. "You're...not a virgin are you?" I shook my head. "Good, that means I can be rough." we both laughed. All of that initial discomfort was worth it. He slammed his hips into me, leaving me breathless. "D-Dark!" I moaned, arching my back. "Fuck (y/n), you are so wet and tight..." he responded, continuing to thoroughly work me. I watched the light from the candles dance across his face. "I'm so close!" I breathed, almost flailing myself around. "Me too." he growled, picking up the pace, never breaking eye contact with me. We both hit our releases at the same time. Our moans died off into normal breathing as we laid side by side. "Happy Valentine's Day?" Dark asked. "Oh, you're funny sometimes, dude." I laughed, tossing his hair a bit. "Yes, this was a happy Valentine's Day...thanks for being my sort of date." "I think fuck buddy is a better term." I bit my lip to hold in my laughter. "It was bound to happen sooer or later." I said. He nodded. "With me, it always does." I put my head on his chest. "Wanna stay over?" I asked. "Fine with me." he said, wrapping me in a hug. His cold skin contrasted the warmth of the candles and I found myself with heavy eyelids in no time.  "Night (y/n)." Dark said, obviously noticing. "Night..." I said drifting.
