Annoying (Teobaldo Leonhearts; LiEat)

Teobaldo Leonhearts is a con artist who never gave his true identity away and always changes appearance. One could say that he's a living, breathing lie, but then again, a con artist is not honest to begin with.

He's also a man who has little patience with children and annoyances.

"Long time no see, Teo."

A woman appearing out of nowhere is something he can handle, as he has two acquaintances who do that to him at times. But being called by his name when he hasn't revealed it to anyone else came out as a surprise.

Efina's eyes practically sparkled as she eyed the get-up of the stranger. Teo could only give her a look before assessing the unknown lady, not that he's checking her out or anything. He can never be too careful around types like her.

She wore a (color), sleeveless dress reaching just above her knees; the dress only having two buttons on the front. A black choker with a (gem) tie in the middle is stitched on the translucent cloth of her neck, ending until the neckline of the dress. A (color) sash acted as a belt wrapped around her waist and has a (flower) attached to its left. The skirt has a top layer of transparent cloth that glitters under the light of the grand hall.

Teo also noted that she wore black, fingerless gloves that covered her forearms and half her thumb until the part of the palm just below her fingers. Precariously perched on the side of her head is a minuscule, (color) sun hat with a (color) ribbon wrapped around the base of the crown and the excess trailing down to her temple. Attached to it is a rose and a miniature veil keeping the ribbon intact.

They were unusual accessories to pair with a dress, especially if it's worn in a semi-formal party where most of the girls wore dresses with faux furs, lace, frills, and glinting jewelry. Teo took a long, hard look on her face and noticed something recognizable.

The mischievous twinkle in her eyes made him remember the day where he and his siblings met a kid in the streets; one who inconspicuously gave them food and hung out with them before leaving for town.

"..."

"Giving me the cold shoulder now? Ufufu," She giggled, her attention shifting to Efina beside him. "Now, to whom do I owe the pleasure of knowing her name?"

Before he can open his mouth to answer, Efi beat him to it with her usual cheer, "My name's Efi and he's my p- uh, Sid!"

He knew what she was going to say and, no matter how many times he's told her, she always slips. Teo immediately continued her sentence for her, "I'm her older brother. What are you doing here, ____?"

"Is that the name you're going by now?" She quirked an inquisitive eyebrow, amusement dancing in her eyes. His green eyes narrowed, trying to intimidate her, but it doesn't work of course. She was used to it already.

"You're dodging my question there."

"No need to hide it from me," ____ grinned and crossed her arms, looking at him with that playful gaze as she ignored his previous statement. "I know she's a dragon, albeit yours to care for."

She said it so low that it could count as barely a whisper. Before he could drive the matter of having a dragon away and asking for her intentions again, Efi bounded up to her and examined her with curiosity and excitement.

"Who are you? Where are you from? How come you know Sid?" She fired one question after another, innocently bouncing on the balls of her feet with her head tilted to the side. ____ giggled, again, and looked down at her, pink-blue eyes meeting (color) ones.

"I'm ____, and I come from many places. As to how I met him," Her (color) eyes stared back at Teo's before directing it back to Efi with a wink. "Let's keep it a secret for now."

"Efi," He resisted the urge to sigh. ____ was like a kid whenever she was bored; wanting to play or have something entertain her before she explodes into a fit of childish temperament. He doesn't know if she ever changed in the past few years.

Nor does he know if she knows what happened back then.

He doesn't want to handle two kids at the moment nor does he want her snooping around in his business; she was better off out of it and unharmed. He took Efi's hand in his and said, "You've met her and she answered your questions. We don't want to bother her, so let's go."

"Aaaaw," Efi pouted, but obeyed like always; not wanting to cause a scene in the middle of a party if she didn't. "Okay, Sid."

____ let out another giggle, much to Teo's displeasure and embarrassment. It didn't help the fact that he was still attracted to her no matter how long they haven't seen each other.

And she saw him with a kid holding his hand like a child would do to a parent. He doesn't mind though, Efi's growing on him, but he would've thought that she would tease him for being such a dad to the dragon.

To his surprise, she didn't. Instead, she regarded him with a warm smile. A genuine one that was rarely seen as she was always the playful type.

"You're like a father to her, you know? No wonder she calls you papa."

Usually, he would correct anyone who would've told him about Efi's tendency to call him that. Under these circumstances, he surprisingly didn't and remained silent as she chuckled.

"Quiet again, are we?" She stepped closer to him, making Teo's heart pound in anxiety. This was a first for him, much less a woman advancing on him. If anything, he was wondering where she got that courage and audacity from. She usually backs away whenever someone comes close to her personal bubble; she respects it that much.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Oh, nothing," ____'s lips curled into a grin, one what someone could describe as a Cheshire cat smile. "Just going to make you remember me the next time we meet."

She swooped in and kissed the corner of his lips, intentionally missing them to tease him just a little. Efi's squeal of surprise reached his ears, but his mind went blank to even comprehend what was happening right now.

____ stepped back with a laugh and walked away from them with a wave of her hand. "I'll be seeing you two soon," With another tinkling laugh, she blended in with the crowd and disappeared out of sight.

It was quiet for a moment, the silent atmosphere rained with chatter from the guests in the party, until Efi asked him a question he wasn't keen on answering.

"Why is your face red, Sid?"

"Never mind that," The con artist muttered and led her away from the jostling crowd. His mind wandered back to ____ with that giggle of hers and the kiss, which made him wonder what happened to her to annoy him to this extent. He scowled, trying hard not to grumble about it.

He did anyway.

"She missed, dammit."

Hahaha XD What the heck am I typing so early in the morning? Oh well.

I've been playing a lot of RPG Maker games these days and it's driving me nuts at how many endings I want to get in all of them. LiEat was the first game I've played without acknowledging it through a playthrough on Youtube and I enjoyed it a lot. (Although I did get a bad ending in LiEat III)

Anyways, sorry if there are any errors in this story and if this isn't to your liking. This may be my last update before I go back to school, rendering me busy and inactive yet again.

I really enjoyed writing this and I'm looking forward to summer to continue writing and do everything I planned to do after school's over.

See you soon,
