Numb. That's what you feel right now.

All you can see is white, and all you can smell is the scent of antiseptic and rubbing alcohol. Faint beeping can be heard from your left, in sync with your heartbeat. Cold air nipped at the exposed skin, cold enough for little goosebumps to appear. Light filtered in through the thin curtains blocking the window to your right, the city hidden from view. You have no idea why you were in a hospital room, void of anyone else but you.

You released a breath, fingers regaining feeling, and chest falling as you did so. Your mind cleared and you took a look at yourself.

You were lying on a bed, sheets covering your lower half for warmth. Bandages wrapped around your arms and torso, feeling stiff with the thick amount of rolls and preventing you from sitting up properly. You concluded that the heavy feeling on your head were also bandages wrapped around your skull. Now you were confused. Just how did you get here?

A click echoed in the room, making you crane your neck to the source of the sound. A brunette clad in white softly shut the door and turned on her heel to see you awake and looking at her. She jumped a little, but let a small smile grace her features.

"Oh, you're awake!" Clutching the clipboard to her chest, she opened the door again and excused herself, not before saying, "I'll inform your friend for a bit. I'm sure he'd be delighted with the news."

The door shut with another click, leaving you with a lot of questions. How long have you been out? A friend, and the person's a he? You're sure that you have never befriended a male in your life. From what you can remember, you were awkward around the opposite gender and you only have a few female friends.

The door was slammed open to reveal a grinning albino male. He had short, white hair framing his pale face and his eyes were a shade of ruby red that seemed to gleam at the sight of you. "Kesesese~ I knew you'd wake up, liebling!"

You tilted your head to the side, digging it further into your pillow. Did he just laugh? If he did, that was an odd laugh. His accent was thick too, German, you guessed.

The German took no notice of your confusion and plopped himself on the chair next to your bed. Relief was evident on his face and he seemed happy to see you, which makes it all the more difficult for you. You didn't want to see him sad for some reason. It would pain you for sure and you didn't know why.

"I was beginning to think you'd be dead asleep," his voice cracked a bit at the end, wincing as he forced out a chuckle. Despite being a total stranger, you didn't want to let him have a one-sided conversation.

"How long was I out?" The question was barely a whisper, but he was quick to reply. "A few months. Everyone was worried you know, your family more than the others."

You nodded, unable to comprehend that you've been in a coma for that long. Silence followed after, the two of you unsure of what to say next. The silence lasted for a few more moments before you started speaking again.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?" He asked, his teeth gnawing on his bottom lip in apprehension. Your throat felt tight as you uttered the words you'll come to regret to ask, "Who are you?"

His grin faltered, his eyes appeared to dull at the question. You gulped, trying to fight the stinging sensation behind your eyes. Who is he to make you feel like this? Painful silence ensued, neither of you moving under the tense atmosphere.

"Just a friend, fraulein. Just a friend." The corner of his lips twitched into a sad smile, his eyebrows arching downwards to show his melancholy. Your heart twisted at the sight, which left you to more questions than answers.

Who is he? Who is he to make you feel heartbroken whenever he's sad? Afraid that you'll make the situation worse with more questions? Longing for him to stay with you for at least one more minute even if you didn't know him?

Just who is he?

"I'll call my bruder and your family. Let them know that you're fine and awake," he said, reaching out a hand to your head. He froze, looking as if he's battling with himself in his mind. Instead, he let his hand down and stood up from his place to head to the door, his back turned to you.

You watched him with a heavy heart and a confused mind. Something wet slipped down your cheek, your fingers touching it to find out that it was a tear. You were crying, for a stranger no less.

Your heart lurched and your stomach dropped as his hand twisted the knob to leave. Your throat tightened and you mustered enough strength to call him out. As you continued to watch him, you felt as if you forgot something important. Something that tied you to him in more ways than you can imagine.

And you weren't letting go of it.

"Wait," you said, voice weak and scratchy from months of not using your voice. You're not just going to end it like this. This isn't going to end like this. You have to remember, you need to remember just why you would go the lengths to make him stay with you.

But he was gone, and he never turned back.

Well, that was sad lol. I had this idea just now and decided to write it down before I could forget. So, tada~ Angst! XD

I guess you could say this was inspired by Prussia (the country, not Gil) dissolving and becoming an ex-country. People don't even know about Prussia unless you're into history a lot or you've watched Hetalia.

I'm really sorry for not updating as much. I might open up requests again, but I'm not sure when since I still have school looming over my back. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this~
