"You okay?"

It was never easy fitting in, in a new school. Especially if said school was one that was attended by the offspring of the world's most elite people. This school was Horton. And this is the beginning of my story.

"Gavin! Hurry you oaf! We're going to be late for our first day of school," I screamed to my best friend. I heard a thud and then a muffled curse.

"Give me a sec will you Jayde," he hollered in return.

"You've been getting ready for the past hour and a half! You're a guy and I'm a girl. There's got to be something wrong with that," I complained as I waited at the bottom of the stairs for him. Not a minute later he came jogging down the stairs, looking model ready with a smile plastered on.

"Babe, I'm gay, so the rules don't really apply to me," he answered. I rolled my eyes and walked to the front door. He always used that excuse when I complained about his excessive morning routine.

"You always say that. Who's driving?" I asked as we stopped in front of our large garage.

"That's cuz it's true hon. I will, since I did make us a tad bit late," he answered.

"Gav, it's eight forty. Class starts in ten minutes. We surpassed tad, forty minutes ago," I replied as he punched in the code to his section of the garage.

"Whatever. Being fashionably late is always a good thing. Especially since you and I look oh so fashionable today. I always get jealous of how quickly you can get ready," he whined as we neared his line of cars.

"Be more prepared and you'll get as quick as me. Which one are we taking?"

"Uhhh...let's go for the Escalade. It seems bad-butt-ish. Maybe it'll give us a gangster kind of look," he reasoned.

"Gav. First of all. You're dressed like a prep student. How the heck are you going to appear gangster?" I said with a clear are you stupid tone of voice.

"Sheesh, what crawled up your pants and died? But as usual, good point. So we'll take the Lexus then?" he asked.

"Uh no. Just because we don't look like gangsters does not mean we roll in like elders. Let's take the Escalade," I replied.

He clapped his hands together and headed towards the blacked-out Escalade. He and I loved making our midnight runs for food in this bad boy. In no time, we were speeding towards school. Normally this trip was supposed to take thirty minutes, but with Gavin's crazy driving and my choice of music, we reached school fifteen minutes later. As we pulled into the large school parking lot, I was not shocked to see a line-up of fancy cars in the front. After all this was Horton. We parked in the middle, and the Cadillac stood out in the rows of non-descript cars. I got out of the car as well as Gavin and I stood in front of the car to check my reflection. Had you not known better, you would have mistaken Gavin and I for siblings. We both were tall and willowy and shared the same ink black hair, except mine had a few highlights in it. Gavin had hazel eyes and I had incredibly light green eyes that looked pale blue sometimes. As I had expected the entrance quad was empty because we were late.

"I can't believe you made us late on our first day," I hissed quietly as Gavin and I walked to our arranged class from the schedule.

"And I can't believe that you bought a new Prada bag," he said and stared down at my nude Prada Saffiano handbag.

"We're starting a new school. I deserve a treat," I reasoned.

"Is that how you justify buying all of your bags?" he teased.
