(Luca's POV)
"You ready to go?" Storm asks as he grabs his coat. I nod and Riley hands me my coat. We all walk outside to the car and get in. I sit in the back with Riley and Storm starts to drive us to the police station. "So, Luca, just tell them everything that happened. They already have a confession, so your statement will be enough to put him away."
"O-Okay," I say and Riley gives me a comforting smile. I know he can tell I'm nervous. Storm pulls into parking lot and we walk inside once Storm shuts the car off.
As we walk into the station, a German Shepherd starts barking at us and I run behind Storm and Riley. I love animals if I know they're nice.
"Diamond, get back here!" the officer who has her on the leash demands. "Sorry about that. She's still learning,"
"It's fine," Storm says with a smile. I peek out from behind Storm and Riley to look at Diamond. She sits down in front of the officer and I bite my lip.
"Would you guys like to pet her?" the officer asks.
"You want to pet her, Luca?" Riley asks and I nod slowly. Riley takes me over to Diamond and I put my hand out for her to sniff. She nuzzles my hand and I giggle.
"Sh-She's sweet," I say.
"Very sweet. She's on break from her training," he says.
"I'm going to ask about our appointment," Storm tells us and we nod.
"How old is she?" Riley asks.
"She's one-year-old."
"O-Oh, okay," I say. We stop petting her when Storm comes to get us.
"Thanks for letting us pet her," Riley says.
"No problem," he says and smiles. We follow Storm to back of the station and sit down on a bench.
"They said they'll call Luca back in a few minutes," Storm says. Riley and I nod and I play with my hoodie strings nervously. I hear Riley hiss in pain and I look over at him.
"Y-You're g-g-going to make i-it worse," I say as he keeps messing with the cut on his lip.
"I can't help it. I hate having a busted lip," he says.
"Did you ever call your parents to tell them what happened yesterday?" Storm asks.
"Uh, no," Riley mumbles.
"You probably should so they don't freak out when they see you all beat up."
"Okay," Riley says and pulls his phone out.
(Riley's POV)
I walk over to a corner and call my house phone. "Hello?" Michael answers.
"Hey, is Mom or Dad there?" I ask.
"No, they're at work. Where are you? Shouldn't you be in school?" Michael sounds kind of sick so assume that's why he's home.
"No, I got suspended. Are you sick?" I ask.
"Yeah, I'm sick. Where are you now?" he asks.
"At the police station."
"What?! What the hell did you do now?!" he yells.
"Calm down, just tell Mom I'll be home tonight to explain," I say and I hear him sigh. I can tell he's doing that thing where he pinches the bridge of his nose. It's a habit of his.
"Fine. See you then." Michael hangs up and I roll my eyes. Jeez, it gets harder to talk to him everyday. I see Luca get up from his seat and follow some lady to a room. I put my phone in my pocket and then sit back down next to Storm.
"So, what did they say?" he asks.
"I'm going to go home tonight to tell them what happened because Mom and Dad are at work." He nods and looks at his phone.
"Luca shouldn't be long. We can get some brunch after this if you guys want," he says.
"Okay," I say and smile. Luca comes out about fifteen minutes later and I see he's a little shaky, but okay.
"You okay?" Storm asks.
"Y-Yeah," he says and takes a deep breath. We leave the station and get in Storm's car.
"I have to go home tonight and explain to my family what happened," I say.
"O-Oh. Wh-When will y-y-you be b-back?" he asks, sounding kind of upset. I know he's trying to hide it, though.
"I'll text you and tell you when," I say and he nods. Storm pulls into a cafe and we all get out.
"I'll be right back. I'm going to go to the restroom," Storm says as a waitress seats us.
"Luca, why are you so upset about me leaving? We'll still see each other in school and when we hang out," I say.
Luca looks away from me before saying, "I-I've had h-h-hard-dly any nightm-mares with y-you sleeping in m-my bed w-w-with me." I can feel my heart start to hurt from him saying that. "It's l-like y-y-you protect me."
"Luca, I'll always be here for you. If you have a nightmare and want to talk to me then just call me. I'll talk to you until you fall asleep."
Luca nods and says, "Th-Thank you."
"Don't thank me. I love helping you, and you help me, too" I say, "Hey, Luca?"
"Y-Yeah?" he says.
"Can I give you a nickname? I won't call you it around Storm or anyone that doesn't know about us," I say.
Luca bites his lip and mumbles, "What's w-wrong with m-my n-name?"
"Nothing! I love your name! I was looking up the meaning of your name and I found out that it fits you so well and I want to give you a nickname based on that," I say. He looks at me confused and nods.
"Wh-What d-d-does it m-mean?"
"Bringer of light. Which is perfect since you brighten up my world." He giggles and shakes his head.
"W-Wow," he says and I smile.
"So, how about it, sunshine? Think I can call you that from now on?" I ask and he giggles more.
"S-Sure," he says, "D-Does my n-name r-r-really mean bringer o-of l-l-light?"
"According to Google it does." Storm sits back down and smiles at us.
"So, what are you guys ordering?" he asks and we look down at the menu.
"The BLT," I say.
"Ch-Chicken and s-assuage g-g-gravy biscuits," Luca says.
"Sounds good," Storm says. The waitress takes our orders and we all make small talk.
After we eat, Storm drives us back to their house and we all go inside. I follow Luca up to his room so I can pack my stuff up and get ready to leave. "Wh-Why were y-y-you looking u-up my name?" Luca randomly asks.
I blush and say, "When you first told me your name I thought it sounded cool. Plus, I've never heard of it before. So, I wanted to see how popular it was but ended up finding the meaning."
"Oh," Luca says.
"You have to admit, it does fit you perfectly," I say.
"H-How? I-I'm so dep-pressing," Luca mumbles.
"No you're not. You brighten up so many people's days. You're literally a ball of sunshine."
"Wh-Whatever y-y-you say," he mumbles. I sigh and get up with my bag.
"I better get going. I love you, Sunshine. Call me if you need me," I say. He hugs me and nods.
"O-Okay. I-I love you, t-t-too," he says and I kiss his head. After saying goodbye to Storm, I walk out of the house and start walking to mine.
*Kind of short, but it's okay. Do you guys like the pet-name? Or should I change it? I couldn't think of anything else that had to do with light. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! Don't forget to comment and vote! Thanks for reading! I love you all! <3*
