A Party Most Excited

To the right, nothing;
To the left everyone else,
Bruised, defeated,
Split and splintered.
The other representing so few,
Advocating so little.
Powerless is the majority.

Moderation, compromise,
Most affairs of state-
Middle left, middle right.
But now!
The 'helping hand'
Withered away
Under their watch
And all reduced,
Like the penny, gone!

Nuzzle, suckle
With your Republican spies.
Shaping public opinion,
Fabricating all those lies,
Creating that which is,
Changing us 'Oh Canada',
To something unwanted;
Something harsher,

Like a cat that over time
Inches closer and closer to it prey,
You slowly scratched away
The traditions built since the days of Laurier
Till like a sculptor your sculpture comes to life
And before we know it
It's solidly entrenched,
Changing the fabric of Canada.

Oh but poor sculptor that you are,
What have you fashioned?
It looks unrecognizable from what came before
Like the cat you have reached your destination,
Artful yes, but now we are not so sure.
The destination was never wanted,
And I fear the sculpture is an ugly one
Destined to disappear, and has retarded our development.
