Last forever! We didn't think ... we
       knew.
Indestructible! We believed. I thought
       so too.
This wreck, please don't let me down.
I've driven you hard these many years
And worked your engine hours and
       hours,
And though I cared for you when I
       must
I recognize now how haphazard it was,
Reckless even, especially early on
When mostly you were strong and true;
Once fleet you were, but sluggish now
I pushed you hard and filled you, sadly,
With less than the perfect fuel, for—
In need of repair more often these days
The parts are worn through and
       through,
Often breaking, mended but never
       new;
Now as autumn passes and winter
       nears
I truly need you for these final years.
So wreck, please don't let me down
There's some miles ahead for me and
       you.
