Momentary Glances

Sonnet I

Occasionally your eyes find mine and lock
And mine are drawn to hold yours as well;
Though hands continually circle the clock,
It still surprises that these carved lines fell
So deeply across our furtive, time worn faces
To grant us a bit of wisdom, enough to know,
That even as the inevitability of time races
On without regard for those above or below,
These momentary glances of connection
Are reminders that life is decided by choices
We make, and it was your generous decision,
Confirmed with your eyes, when one rejoices,
Despite passage of time; the great Cronus
Cannot take away what lays between us.
